Managing a bioactive enclosure and the pooping flower

One of the benefits of having an isopod colony is that you never have to worry about weather or other conditions leaving you without feeders. While not an ideal choice for a regular feeder, in a pinch isopods can be on the menu.

baby chameleon closed both eyes please help!!!

Yes, just her normal coloring. As she grows older, you can expect to see many changes in her coloring and patterns. It’s always a beautiful surprise. 😊

baby chameleon closed both eyes please help!!!

I’ve been wondering how you and your little cutie patootie are doing. I’m thrilled that she’s looking so healthy and beautiful. 🥰🥳🤩 She’s grown so much! You’re doing fantastic with caring for her! She’s still quite young. Maybe in a couple more months she’ll show you her sass. ;)

    im back.... again (for real)

Umm…Google is maybe one of the worst ways to learn chameleon husbandry. The things we’ve seen….yikes! A much much better way is at https://chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-husbandry-program-getting-started-with-chameleons/ or check out some of the multitude of videos on YouTube from Neptune...

    is my cham doing ok?

Just want to add on about this. If you are using Arcadia brand uvb bulbs, those are good for a year. ReptiSun are good for only 6 months*. If you are using any other brand of uvb bulbs, I strongly advise changing it asap to Arcadia or ReptiSun as they have not proven to have reliable output...

    is my cham doing ok?

For supplements, you want to use the calcium without D3 at every feeding. The calcium with D3 should be used for just one feeding every other week. You also need to use a multivitamin at one feeding every other week, usually alternating with the D3. So, for example on days 1 and 14 you would use...

    is my cham doing ok?

Hi. Your pretty lady looks gravid to me. Have you got a lay bin in her enclosure yet? If not, now is the time. They prefer to have at least 10-12” wide and long and to save them from a lot of digging, about 5-6” deep of moistened play sand (or a 50/50 mix of sand and soil). While she may not...

    Do I need more plants?

It looks great! As the pothos grows, you can have fun draping and wrapping it around branches. You’ve made a perfect little forest for your guy. 💗 When he grows a bit heavier, he won’t be able to walk upside down and you can put the lights back on the screen if you wish.

Which locale has the best colors when not fired up?

I think I may have mixed up my boys. They are both so very similar that it is often hard to tell their pics apart. The fired up pics are both of Mango. Bart usually is more blue while Mango is more teal, which threw me off.

    My Guy is in Trouble

Even though I avoided this discussion, I am very glad that you have posted this disclaimer (for lack of a better word). We all do need to be very cautious of what we post as we never know who may be reading or how they interpret things. I am all for fresh air and sunshine for all living...

    Misting amount

I’ve got Mist King, and while I’ve no idea of the volume per misting session, I doubt that it is anywhere near 400 mls. Running 6 double nozzles at 2, 2 minute misting, 1, 1 minute misting and 2 15 second mistings per 24 hour period, I go thru about just under 5 gallons of water per week, so...

Hi would anyone be able to help male or female?

While my guy was much older than your little cutie is, this is the hemipenal bulge which we use to determine. Your little one lacks any hemipenal bulge and from her vent, her bottom tail base goes straight. I picked the photo of your that could be misidentified and point out where/why.

Which locale has the best colors when not fired up?

My personal experience is limited to Ambilobe panthers and veileds. I have a Nosy Be panther girl, who I think is gorgeous, but of course the ladies beauty is more subtle. While all panthers are gorgeous, I think the Ambilobe might be the most common in the trade and for this reason. Mine rarely...

Managing a bioactive enclosure and the pooping flower

There are a lot of things that may be the problem. I’ve had such wonderful success with my bioactives that outside bugs have found them to make great homes and moved in. 🤬 Ants! I’m currently in the process of undoing them all. 🥺 I used the blog that @Beman linked above as a guide until I felt...

    Feeding worms?

Same as @Decadancin My animals love all worms - horn, silk, wax, super (meal for the geckos). With both silkworms and hornworms, I hand feed those to help maintain trust. Regardless of what feeder you are offering, it is important that they are the correct size. That can be just a tad trickier...
