Bio active on Zoo Med XL?

Be sure to share when you are done! I’m still building up to the point where I feel comfortable doing bioactive so please share as much as you can!

    Few month update. New enclosure 2 x 2 x 4

...lots of pothos. 🤷‍♀️ Another cool thing is to plant one low and have it vine upwards. The leaves grow bigger when it grows upwards. For bioactive, I’ve been using fabric root pouches to contain the substrate and they work great! This one works very well...

    Tongue issue and edema

You’ve got the right calcium. You want to use a calcium without D3 at every feeding except when using the Repashy LoD every other week. Vitamin D3 is fat soluble, so is not quickly excreted and can build up to toxic levels if over done. The Repashy LoD is a combination D3 and multivitamin and is...

    Remodeling enclosure after lost chameleon

If you are going plant shopping, I love monstera. The broad leaf offers shade and stalks ate strong. I would ditch the bioactive aspect of the cage especially if you dealt with parasites. Also go.clean screen with two sides covered and taped down with vinyl on the outside of the screens. I...

What to use for bottom of cage to make it bioactive??

...for at least the past three years and it works out great for me. After about a year, various things caused me to need to take apart my bioactive set ups and I was pleasantly shocked to see that aside from a bit of surface dirt, the bags almost looked like new and with no signs of wear. The...

New Owner - Stressed - Husbandry Check?

...worries with your first Cham. Before I give feedback on your answers, I have to mention the leaves on the bottom of the cage. Unless it's bioactive, it's going to create a huge bacterial problem with the moisture, poop, and dead bugs. Without the extra bugs that are put in the bioactive soil...

    Self-cleaning Dubia/Discoid Bin

Yeah it’s as simple or complicated as you want to make it. Don’t get scared by the word bioactive and how complicated people make it, it works all the same. Most of what people add is regarding plants/drainage which isn’t a concern when dealing with roach bins.

    Husbandry review

...side eye only a woman can give😭 Cage Info: Cage Type - Cage is currently too small and I hate it… imma upgrade her to a 2x2x4 hybrid bioactive setup. Got her when I just started getting my life back together and wasn’t as researched, so I bought what I could. It’s the reptibreeze...

    Isopods as staples?

I haven't heard of isopods as a staple before, but It's worth a shot!! I've only used isopods in my bioactive frog enclosure, so it will be interesting to see if your chameleon likes them!!

    New panther sleeping worries

...with screen top 4ft x 4ft x 2ft, arcadia T5 pro 6% 6 inches away, basking temp is 32°c and a jungle dawn for the live plants, she's in a bioactive environment, bio has been up and running for a few weeks prior to picking her up yesterday, lights on at 7am, of at 7pm, misting at 7.10pm for 2...

    Husbandry Check?

...anxious about it getting too hot or him getting burned so I will move it back down a touch to get it warmer. That is very helpful and I will look into the govee. How hard is it to switch to bioactive in an enclosure that already has a lil guy in it? I would imagine it's easier with a new...

A little thread of love for a fellow reptile

...a long time and it’s a commitment! (Says the granny who recently got a parsons chameleon) I was looking for a shorter lifespan creature to fill my first bioactive enclosure build so the carpet cham won over the crestie. Pizza crust is super cool and I hear they have quite a personality, sort...

    Chameleon not moving

...it from sliding down. I did have to add a few extra small screws for this, but not a big deal. It looks much nicer than I thought it would and is sturdy enough to hold not just a lot of various size branches, but some plants as well. *just fyi - my enclosures are all double sized and bioactive.

    Temperature/Humidity

Op had private messaged me and we did talk a bit about temps, humidity and the substrate/going true bioactive. I didn’t know the enclosure was in front of a window though. @ryandrumm2020 you definitely need to either move the enclosure away from the window (best option) or take measures so the...

Chameleon not eating a lot and not shedding

...don’t see the bottom vents, but as long as they are there and unobstructed, it should be okay. Do keep a close eye on humidity, which should kind of give a gauge of ventilation. I didn’t ask about the substrate. Is it fully bioactive? Is there a drainage layer, clean up crew and all that...

trying to find a 4x2x4 screen enclosure

thanks for the advice! How much did you get the cages for on sale? the one I found was around 150$? also when I do make the double wide should i have multiple basking spots, or just one? oh and do you have any advice for a way i can have the misting line tube thingy outside the cage but still...

    Maybe sick or I’m exaggerating?

...screen enclosures together with wire, but this is a nicer way. https://chameleonacademy.com/double-wide-chameleon-cage-project/ For my bioactive, I place some heavy duty plastic beneath the whole enclosure (they sit on wooden shelves), place enclosures on top and then use the ReptiBreeze...

    Fogging

Thank you!! It is bioactive. The fan at the bottom is blowing in and I have a fan on the top screen sucking out. I turn them on in the morning to dry things out then turn them off at night. Do you think that is OK? I worry there is too much air moving through, but i do keep them on the...
