    Fogging

@ehdee6 also, Neptune the chameleon was delightful and so informative—-worth every penny and i plan to do a follow up phone call with her. I’d tag her but not sure how. Also, I did the hydroponic pothos at the top because I’m impatient and i want some vining leaves hanging down soon;)

I am building a bioactive viv and these are the plants I have collected to plant in the ground substrate and mounted wall baskets and hanging baskets: Fluffy Ruffle Fern Pan Am Pilea Schefflera Pothos (Neon) Pothos (Fernandos Fire) Prayer Plant Petra Croton Red Anne Fittonia...

    Bioactive plant variety

I'm currently planning and designing a bioactive enclosure and I had some questions about plants. 1) on pretty much every "approved plants" list I've noticed that they are almost exclusively green leafy plants with very few other colors and almost no flowers. Is there a reason for this? 2)...

    Misting, how often?

...much. Say you live somewhere like AZ with low humidity and have screen or hybrid your misting sessions are going to be longer. Even with bioactive in a dry climate you may still need to run longer morning and evening mistings. Your misting length is also going to depend on your set up and...

    Remodeling enclosure after lost chameleon

...frame, and if you remove the screen from the side you’re covering, seal along the entire inside edges with silicone or hot glue. I love bioactive enclosures, and that’s a great guide! Just make sure to quarantine your next cham in a sterile cage (non bioactive and easy to clean) for at...

My crickets keep dying. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks Skittles. I wish my chameleon would eat Dubia. There are still Dubias living in his bioactive terrarium from like 3 months ago when I last tried to get him to eat them. Am I feeding the crickets correctly? Should I give them any other foods?

    Long Overdue Greenhouse Pictures!!

...notes. After that I have had the policy of not keeping delicate chameleon species until I solve the problem even though the greenhouse is bioactive. I am only keeping Furcifer pardalis and Trioceros jacksonii ssp. since they are hardy species and plants lots of plants. Thanks much. Best...

    Bioactive Feeder Bin?

Hello all, Bioactive stuff is new since I last kept chams 10 years ago. I’ve seen some things on bioactive roaches, but is anyone keeping their crickets in bioactive bins? Mainly asking because this will be my first round of keeping since I got married and I need to figure out how to keep...

    The dreaded gnats...

My gnat issue was so out of control in the Cham room that I had to wear a mask or I’d breath them in. It was a huge issue lmao. GF(now wife) was not chill about that. #gnatcompetition

    ‘Spoiling’ my sweet old lady

Only strange for people who haven’t ever been on the forum. 😂 I’ve never thought to look. She’s in a bioactive enclosure, so her clean up crew takes care of the poops. Plus, her regular poo spot is half behind her lay bin, so it’s a bit hidden. I’ll try to see what I can see today though.

    is my chameleon adapting okay?

...think. A veterinary wellness visit is needed in order to have the vet run the fecal test. Another area I agree is unless you are full bioactive, with adequate separated drainage layer and clean up crew, no substrate on the bottom is best. I do hope I’ve been of some help. If you have any...

    New to chameleons

that is a very good Idea and I will probably try that for hanging plants. I found some hacks and stuff for installing the wood supports because they are relativly light. but I have been wondering what to use for hanging plants and I will try that. thanks

    Urine smell

yes have some spagnum moss around plants base on bottom but not much. I think I will just need to wipe down the large leaves that seem to be collecting the urine and feces

When can I start using substrate?

Hi. As has been said already, bare floor is best unless you are going fully bioactive. Bioactive is great, but it takes some work setting up and it isn’t right for everyone.

how to get/make Large Glass enclosure for panther

Why does wood mean you need to go bioactive? Whatever you want to use just seal the wood with something waterproof.

Large isopods for bioactive Cham enclosure

Hey everyone so I was wondering if there’s any species of isopods I can add in my bioactive enclosure that will coexist with the dwarf whites that I already have in there. I’d like a larger species that I can see doing there thing on top of the substrate and can live in that moist climate and...

Spending a fun day baking potting soil. Finally redoing Stella’s bioactive set up, but my giant bag of soil had roaches all in it. 😱 Now I trust none of them and have to bake them all. Criminy!

...I also forgot! I also have 7 different varieties of isopods (Some duplicate/different variety tubs) that the students built their now bioactive tubs for a project earlier in the year. Also, don't mind the chameleon cage, it is in maintenance status to clean-up and prepare of the new chameleon.

    Maybe sick or I’m exaggerating?

@MissSkittles I believe uses two of these screen enclosures and fashioned them into bioactive. You can see a pic of one of her builds here I know somewhere she did mention the way her substrate tray is set up so digging around in her activity might be some help :)
