    Building a cage...

...week :ROFLMAO:. Spar urethane is a bit more but, as I noted earlier it's used to protect wood outside, on boats and houses. I have not used drylok personally but have seen it mentioned several times for sealing wood enclosures as well as epoxy paint like @Tucklander mentioned. I used the...

waterproofing the inside of you terrarium

I've used drylok for a few wooden enclosures for mangrove species of monitors in the past with no issues, and I know it's almost the standard for tegu keepers who go the DIY route. "air out" time is definitely crucial, though.

...all of the roots, combined all of the pieces with great stuff and sanded/carved everything. Notice how the roots are tall and skinny instead of wide. This is because buttress roots in the rainforest are shaped like this. Next I will be painting it with a product called Drylok masonry...

waterproofing the inside of you terrarium

I have read that people use DryLok Masonry water proofer. But, im not sure if it off-gasses anything harmful to chameleons. you could probably use polyurethane, and let it sit for a while till it does not have any odor. use silicone caulk, available in most colors... you could "brush" it on...

    Low VOC Stains for Wood?

For the epoxy stuff you're on about would this product be safe to use? I'm actually making vivs for crested geckos and need to 100% waterproof it to the best of my ability ^.^ lol I've painted it with outdoor paint but wanted a varnish for on top of that. Would this be suitable...

What kind of sealant for custom background?

@spawn: he's referring to a sealant to go over the grout. Drylok is a latex-based "paint". I would VERY strongly recommend against it for being used directly on foam. However, I highly recommend drylok if you are working with wood.... :)

    is this safe??

I have done my background with the pink insulation foam but i used drylok to cover my background... My next back ground I'm going to use the regular foam insulation board... but ive never seen the rock shaped Styrofoam but i imagine if properly sealed it should be fine

Rainforest Canopy | Epiphyte Laden Branch

Here's the foam branch with Drylok and a steel eye bolt. There is another eye bolt on the other side too. I left the foam surface rough and with the Drylok it made a more or less convincing bark-like finish. After getting this shot I covered the log with sphagnum moss too and I'll post a...

    Sealing MDF?

So I am building some vivs using MDF, I am trying to figure out the best solution to seal them.. For my "closet cage" I used 2 coats of DryLok, then about 5 coats latex paint, im not sure how well its going to hold up, and if I should go that route with these vivs. What I dont want is to see the...

    Finished my Cage. (with pics)

...OR "Dry-Lok" <--latex based primer. It dries a hard, solid seal "over" the wood that can withstand 10psi. This should last you forever. Drylok comes in "white" but if you go to the building materials aisle there are brown/grey/terracotta colored CEMENT PIGMENTS. You can use these to color...

Rainforest Canopy | Epiphyte Laden Branch

I carved away at the branch feature to get the general shape. Now I am going to coat it with the Drylok. I'm also going to have to stiffen it with some kind of reinforcement; I might use some of this thick anodized aluminum bonsai wire that I have. The Great Stuff foam is really flimsy and the...

    Day Two! Construction Resumes.

...FT I believe. I personally used a coat of "weatherproofing" stain (rated for blizzards) On top of that (inside only) I put a coat of brown DRYLOK. In my current build, on top of that I put 6mm black plastic. On the floor I have epoxy under the drain. I am debating if its necessary to...

    Closet cage 1.0

...Thanks. After having it all painted I realized I didnt really care for it too much but its growing on me haha. The closet has 3 coats of DryLok and 5 of latex paint so i should NEVER have any water issues:p The wood framing for the vents and planter was not stained only poly'd, i really like...

...635 3:1 epoxy from US Composites OR b) 2 coats of "weatherproof" stain (the can says it withstands hail and blizzard) and then a coat of DRYLOK on top of that. personally though, I use epoxy on any bigger/"serious" builds, especially ones that house 100% humidity (like dart frogs, etc...
