DIY Aluminum 8020 Quick Frame Enclosure Build

No gravity holds it together just fine. You could always add a self tapping screw if you felt you needed to

Flex seal on top of Drylok to smooth out floor?

I would ensure the drylok is fully cured before adding flex seal on top. Flex seal dries smoother and will still need a cure time. You do not want to add anything to the enclosure until there is no odor left. Typically it can take a week for all odors to dissipate.

    Let me know your thoughts

I have no experience with Drylok, but try the archives. https://www.chameleonforums.com/search/1554231/?q=Drylok&o=relevance I have used FS Liquid on a tortoise table, which is filled with ~4" of soil mix substrate. Are you planning on going standard (no substrate) or bioactive?

DIY Aluminum 8020 Quick Frame Enclosure Build

...I’ve been looking at PVC sheets. I’m looking today at this one from Menards. It has a wood grain design. Was thinking to paint it with drylok brown and black/white accents. For those 8020 connectors which were loose fitting (shouldn’t be the case, but I had a few), did you add something...

Flex seal on top of Drylok to smooth out floor?

That's fine! I don't have a chameleon yet. I'm slowly building the enclosure up now so I don't have to rush.

You can tint the drylok with paint. Like I said, send me a message if you need help! I just finished this build and it was a whole ass process.

any do a DIY foam background in their enclosures?

I too was going to go with drylok but its $35/gal and it's just latex paint so I am going to go to the hobby lobby and buy some browns, blacks, and greys latex paint and just paint it. The styrofoam is waterproof as it is and is not open cell like carved expanded foam so as long as I can fill...

    Need Help with cage

wow so many great suggestions, I have been looking into them. I really want to go with the drylok but there is no black option and my cabinet is black. Guess my next bet is flex seal... going to try and buy it today I will definitely post pictures, before and after. It measures 58in tall and...

    First Bio Build

Finished foaming this week, and put the first coat of Drylok on tonight. I ended up carving most of the rest of the foam with a pocket knife, and it worked out really well. I carved for about 4.5 hours. Very excited as this comes together more!

    DIY Cage

...while its drying then it's not safe while its wet. Once its dry and all the VOCs have burned off its PROBABLY safe. A lot of people use drylok. Well, drykock is acrylic based, therefore I figured MOST acrylic based paints (that clean up with water) would be safe in the long run. I...

    First Bio Build

Getting there. Still working on finishing the paint job and then will be sealing it with clear Drylok and giving it plenty of time to air out. Luckily it's been dry and hot here the last few days, so this should gas off easily. I did not use spray paint, but I do have a really cool gadget that...

    Lennon’s new bioactive tank build

...to come in I started to trim and seal some of the spray foam around the branches I already put into the tank. To seal the foam I am using drylok masonry paint. I used some acrylic paint to add some colour to the drylok so I could tell what has been painted. trimmed foam foam with drylok...

    Help Prepping for First Chameleon

What about out? If you ever have to remove a large plant for whatever reason, you may have to prune it to get it back out the door. What about getting your chameleon out if it needs to go to a vet and won't cooperate? For these and other practical reasons, the front would make a better door...
