    philodendron hastatum

I saw this philodendron hastatum “Silver Sword” in Lowe’s the other time. But I didn’t have enough money. Today my local Lowe’s had couple in 4 inch pots. They also had it in 10 inch pots. But I wasn’t satisfied with the growth of those stocks. The ones I saw were an hour away from me asking for...

    Plants and plant lights?

Veiled. So are philodendrons not safe? Are pothos technically not safe?

    Plants and plant lights?

From my understanding, philodendrons basically have the same toxin as pothos; oxalate crystals. I have heard philodendrons’ are more potent though… what kind of chameleon?

    Plants and plant lights?

...for example, also do not have issues with pothos. It would make sense that they’d be resistant considering most plants in the wild have some form of toxin. I still can’t say for sure how they’d handle philodendrons with a higher dose of the oxalate crystals… probably best to hold off with a...

What do you guys think? (Photo Dump)

I’ll have to check it out, I don’t have much color in there besides different shades of green. I’d like to have some color for my enjoyment

Do you guys think I should add anything else to my chams cage?

lol I have one on the porch for him. It was basically dying so I just put it outside. It’s starting to grow back so I’ll put it back in when it’s better. Here’s a picture of it. I also have a Philodendron I might add in as well. More plants, the better!

Should I add anything else? Also do you like this new ! GIANT ! Branch?

...thick branch from a local nursery. Just wanted to know if I should add anything else to Spyro’s enclosure. I got another pothos and a philodendron outside. I might re add one back into the his enclosure since he has an empty spot. Also, I kinda don’t even see him as a chameleon anymore...

What do you guys think? (Photo Dump)

Most will aim toward the light. I think philodendron silver sword would look a lot better. I saw someone over on instragram using this plant for their veiled.

What do I do with this pothos??

First off this is not a pothos. Looks to be a heart shaped philodendron. They root the same way pothos do. If you are putting it into a veiled cage I would not use it though. Root them before you put in the soil. Cut them back in sections like 6 inches at the nodes. Root in water. Make sure it...

    Eating leaves…stripping plants bare…

I just snip off a few inches of the end of pothos, philodendron and tradescantia and sit them in a glass of water until they develop some roots. I’m trying to start weeping fig and money trees from clippings, with mixed results. For those I clip off at least 6 inches and try to figure out what...

    Plant recommendations-

I've struggled with money trees in my enclosures, they don't like it super wet. I've had the best luck with pothos, philodendron, the polka dotted begonia, and hoya.

What do I do with this pothos??

lol that’s what I was gonna say. Didn’t look like a pothos at all. Leaves looked different and the vine / stem looked different. I also don’t really think pothos would grow like that. They usually spike up then grow some vines. ( at least from my experience with pothos ).

    Philodendron safe or not?

I am wondering if philodendron is a safe plant to have? I see a lot of "yes"s and a lot of "no"s. I know its toxic to cats/dogs because they will tend to take a bite out of it more. I have a panther chameleon who has never taken a bite out of any plant, so would a philodendron be safe? For...

    Philodendron for panther chameleon enclosure

I’ve got a philodendron micans & a neon philodendron at an exotic pet shop today. Was just wondering if anyone has used these in their panther chameleon enclosures & if it’s recommended or not? :)

...mixed info on it from mildly toxic to poisonous, so I wouldn’t use that inside the enclosure. The 3 in the middle are heart leaf philodendron. While they aren’t on the safe/veiled tested list, their properties for toxicity are the same as pothos - contain calcium oxalates which can be...

New to Chams, is he healthy?

Hi Miss Skittles! That's so great to hear! I have many philodendrons and some really pretty ones that I'd love to share with Neelix. Those were my thoughts too--pretty much the same plant! I will share pics of my greenies shortly.

Help, my yemen chameleon keeps hissing at night

...a plant from them. Stick the cuttings in a glass of water and in a short amount of time, roots will develop and then you can plant it. Philodendron isn’t on the safe list, but it has the same toxicity qualities as pothos and I use them interchangeably. I don’t think it’s as tasty as pothos...
