    Setting up Enclosure

The whole floating garden setup is really ideal if you’re not doing a bioactive floor I have a mesh floor too so water fully exits the cage as there’s no barrier for drainage

...able to have each of mine in double wides and love seeing them have and use more space. I wish I could give even more. All of my chams have bioactive set ups in full screened enclosures. I use layers of plastic tarp beneath as extra insurance against excess water escaping. Then inside I have...

    6ft Chameleon Bioactive Vivarium

Hey Everyone! So with a new Panther chameleon "Skittles" in the house and a want to provide the best enclosure I can for him. I would love everyone's feedback on the build and recommend anything I can do differently to maximize Skittle's home. Pic of Skittles: Here are some pictures of the...

    Flies in crickets??

...they aren’t the phorid flies…just soil gnats or fruit flies. To make life easier for my pet sitter when I went away, I set up my crickets bioactively (the roaches were already bioactive). Well, I guess the sitter put out too much food for them and the gnats/flies came. It’s mainly the cricket...

    Husbandry review

I enjoy the all the live plants in your enclosure. Yeah I had a few pretty plants that also died and was sad. I also have just left her bin in the enclosure and am patiently waiting. She does seem skinnier at times but also still looks chunky. I’ll post a pic of her tomorrow to show what I mean...

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

Regarding BSFL, I had them reproducing in small rates in my 4ft deep substrate bioactive. Just enough that there was always a few flying around, but not so many that they were out of control. Downside is I felt my chams got sick of eating them after a while.

    Jackson’s Chameleon Bioactive Enclosure feedback

THAT is a gorgeous enclosure, wow!!! And a handsome little man to boot! I've never tried bioactive myself, but hope to one day... Do you have clay rocks on the bottom for drainage? Can you show a picture of the full enclosure? A great post about bioactive set ups is here...

    Husbandry review

Sorry for the late response, been busy. I actually covered her with a sheet to give her that privacy. I will try that trash bag method since it will also keep the humidity better… I did do Saran Wrap on Ollie’s cage and it worked like a charm for humidity control. Been thinking about doing that...

Best online store to buy isopods for shipping to California?

Thanks so much! Which isopods do you recommend? There are a lot of options... I've got a bioactive terrarium with soil and a bunch of cham-safe plants. I put earthworms in there, and springtails, and one round of isopods but I'm not sure how they faired.

    Completed first chameleon enclosure!!!!!!

I don't want to do bioactive just because of the way I have the bottom built

    Where do I even start?!

...of tank used? I don’t think my house gets too humid thankfully so I think would be ok controlling it in a pvc or glass enclosure? With bioactive is they safe for chameleons I’ve seen lots advice against it due to ingestion.. but wouldn’t have thought a chameleon would be on the ground? And...

    Husbandry review

...blog on egg laying; but I'm going to tag @MissSkittles because she's super knowledgeable of keeping multiple chameleons, female needs, and bioactive set ups. There is a way to make your reptibreeze bioactive, but I've never tried it. To help keep the humidity there are also cheap tricks to...

New Owner - Stressed - Husbandry Check?

Thank you for the replies! The bottom is bioactive (I come from reef hobby so really enjoy ecosystem based care). I swapped out the basking bulb for a lower wattage. Will have the feeder done later today. He did end up hunting yesterday evening and I saw him eat 5 crickets. Thank you for...

    6ft Chameleon Bioactive Vivarium

https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/intro-to-bio-activity.2429/ This is what I used as my guide when I got started with bioactive and I did get a big bag of Fox Farms Ocean Forest. It was a bit too expensive to use for all of my set ups, so I just use whatever organic garden soil Lowe’s has.

    Forum communities lately…

...the spice of life" applies here with a large group of chameleons available for posting here on the Chameleon Forums. I agree about being bioactive with enclosures. My greenhouse the way I have got the settings set to go "Poop" is gone in about a half a day. There is nothing residual after...

    Moss in bioactive

Trying to think of ways to optimize the space in a bioactive enclosure. In trying to maximize the amount of green it occurred to me to add moss to the substrate. Is this a viable option?

    Maybe sick or I’m exaggerating?

That enclosure that you have, can you make it bioactive? Or not because Of the screen?

Spruced up the outdoor enclosures for summer!

Oh cool, I really like the idea of having a summer outdoor house for a chameleon. My only concern would be the bioactive set up.

    I took the plunge-Meet Eja

...is actually a isopod. I grab some from my yard. I guess I grab some pregnant isopods. :) I haven’t put springtails in Eja or Wiseman like I wanted to. But I actually found some type of springtails in Wiseman enclosure. Not sure where they come from. Not sure if the Repti soil is bioactive...
