MBD was the first thing that caught my eye :( but it would be no wonder- she was a train wreck when I got her- and no uvb - and the "mister" was a fish tank air filter in a cup of water !
anyway.... I know the pics are not the best - my camera had a fit trying to take a pic of the X-ray - but I think I see slugs - and MAYBE 2 babies - and that horrid leg :( we could only get the one film, she was FREAKING OUT , just like I knew she was going to - I could not even get her to stand up - she stayed in the "roll away" like she does on her vine when she does not want to get picked up, and had all her claws out - lol and trying to bite me!! BAD GIRL OLIVE ! see my arm - lol anyway, any help in reading them would be much appreciated, and sorry for the poor pics - for next time- what is the best way to do an x ray ?

I'm no vet but that doesn't look good :( the back leg bones look curvy. Wait until a vet or more experienced member comes along, but I think you're right. What did your vet say about it? I don't know how you would treat mbd in a jacksons chameleon, it might be different because they are more sensitive to supplementing. I'm so sorry for you guys that she's having more troubles. I'm sure you can still help her!

that is also the leg she dislocated/ or broke - so that may be why the bone is weird - but I think more old case of mbd - ? as soon as I got her, she got all she needed - but I did the xray to see why she gaining so much weight- I see why now- I just dont know if they are slug ( that is what I think) or 3/4 mos old fetus -

As calcium is water soluble, it is VERY hard to over do it. Jacksons are sensitive to over supplementation, BUT in my opinion that only applies to D3 and other non-water soluble vitamins. It is far more important to correct the poor calcium to phosphorus ratio of certain insects, such as crickets and roaches, than to worry about over doing plain calcium. Not dusting these insects w plain calcium could do more harm than good, especially if they are not gut loaded really well.

Oh it was broken? Like I say I'm no vet! Hope it's just the old injury and not mbd. Hopefully not a combo of mbd and babies! It's common to get a fem jax and she ends up being pregnant, gestation is a long time since they are live bearers. If help doesn't come along soon you could maybe pm one of our great forum vet members to have a look for you, they will know more and might be able to tell if its slugs or babies too.

See I'm not a montane keeper so I didn't know that, thank you! I've just read a lot about over supplementing them and see that they don't get as much calcium dust as the likes of my veiled. I'm all about gutload, my bugs eat better than me! But I'm also an avid calcium duster as my girl is an infertile egg machine!

I’ll let our esteemed veterinarians read that x-ray but I’d be inclined to say that Olive is cycling a bunch of slugs. I’m just not seeing the tiny vertebral column like you could in this and the related linked threads: https://www.chameleonforums.com/x-rays-what-do-you-see-111180/#post1000807 . There is definitely something in her abdomen. If they are slugs there isn’t much you can do. She will expel them naturally when she is ready. If she has a problem birthing then you might want to consider other options but she’s already given birth for you so I wouldn’t panic unnecessarily. Cycling her with different temperatures, humidity and rainy seasons (like the variations you would get in the wild) may stop the constant ‘egg’ production to only once a year.

As for the leg isn’t the fibula (I think that’s what it would be in chameleons?) naturally bent a little like that. You can see it here on these x-rays: https://www.chameleonforums.com/chameleon-x-rays-radiographs-110850/ Again, I’ll let the experts weigh in here.

thanks for looking at them :) yes, I am hopping ferret or dr O will take a peak - do I still take her off the diet tho - right, because the slugs are still taxing on her body - is that correct - I also think it is a batch of slugs- I thought maybe I saw a spine, but the more I look, the more I think not ( and I am glad really - I did not want any more babies ) so she will make eggs no matter what then - I just knew she had "the glow" goin on - LOL I just feel bad she has to go threw having them , and all for nothing - one looks pretty low - I also noticed these are not as white as the other x ray - that was another reason I thought they were slugs- I have really learned alot about X Rays in the last few mos- ( like, I stink at taking pics of them, & next time Olives gets an X ray I am taking her for a beer beforehand so she will relax and not rip my arms off :p )

oh, and the leg - WHEWWWWWWWW - I do see on the link they do look alike- I am glad - the leg looks normal, but when I saw the bow in it, I thought for sure something was wrong- that is the leg she hurt the day I got her- she came out of the box w/ her leg on "backwards" - not a good start - lol but that was long ago =)
