We took Hera outside for some fun. I recently got a Macro lens for my birthday and decided to try it out.

Beautiful photos.

Hate to bring this up, but- did he draw his eyes inward when you approached with the camera, or are his eyes always sunken like that? I know they draw them in on purpose sometimes, especially in front of a camera.

That was due to the camera and the shower she received just moments before.:p

Oh and I thought the Deadpool name looked suspicious lol

I've got the same setup - there will be no end to your fun! Now you're going to want to start keeping some praying mantids.

Nice picks, and a good looking cham as well. On a side note you need to look for a quality resize action for Photo Shop, or write one on your own for web publishing. If you need help with one pm me.

Thanks, i know how to resize though. These shots are originally around 9-10 MB large, I shrunk it down enough so I believe you get a full and detailed view of it. I got others on my DA account on the link there.

I also wanna thank everyone who has replied to my pictures, I appreciate it! I wish I could get pictures of Athena but even since her experience with having medicine forced into her mouth she really hates any human contact. The only contact she's okay with is the tongs with food in them.

yeah! the colors are so vivid & lifelike.. I have a Rebel XT. Do you think that lens will fit in my camera?

Oh, and you used natural lighting right?

Hmmm... I'm not 100% sure if it will or not, but if it's build just like the XTi I'm sure it will fit it.

Yup, all natural lighting.

Interesting. If the original file is only 9-10 MB you resized it to 1.5 MB. However most of us could care less about the file size but the image size. No one wants to scroll around to see the picture, my Mac display is at 1680x1050 and I still cannot see the whole thing at once in the browser. You also sacrifice image quality for IE users as their browser, depending on setting will resize it and cause it not to be viewed at a 1:1 ratio throwing the quality of the image off adversely.

A quality macro shot does not require "size" to display the detail of the capture in a web format. (In print an argument for size could be made) In fact not being able to see the entire image at once makes it difficult to make out the reference detail to begin with.

I suppose, but I prefer letting the viewer getting this overwhelming sense of size when looking at a macro shot. An overwhelming large photo of something we see as a daily minuscule object to be seen so big.
