I have only had my blue bared ambilobe for 5 days now and today was the first day that i have had time to really monitor him. I got the opportunity to see him pooh. I decided to examine his pooh when i noticed that it had a mucus substance on it. I would not even had thought twice about it but i was reading in a earlier thread that when pooh has mucus on it; it could be a parasite.

Howdy,

The translucent white, stringly part is normal seminal excretions. From your photo, it's hard to tell if the fecal material has anything abnormal about it.

Here's normal looking poop and urates:

mucus?

Hey, We saw this coming from out 6 month male panther the last few days as well *spring is in the air* Sometimes it gets stuck, but you can just leave it, and he will get it off on his own. :)

We are currently giving my cam tests for parasites through the vet because he had a prolapse on monday (3/4 tests came back negative), I have a picture that I took yesterday of the semen plug stuck to his bum after he pooped if you want to see... its not surrounding the poo but it gives a different "angle" on the situation. If you are worried, bringing a new cam to the vet gives you a really good outlook on your cams health. The xray will show how much calcium he has/needs, and if you are lucky, your vet will explain your cams anatomy, and answer many of the questions you may have about keeping your cam. If you have the funds, safe is always better than sorry.

you dont want fecal coverd in a liquid. you want a full white, or white urate with a lil orange/ yellow tip, you want the poo to be nice and firm, and want it to look like little links, not runny or mushy to a high degree. chocolate brown poo is the best color.

My female has this kind of poo. What does this mean??? Before today her stools have been fine untill today. The poo was brown with watery stuff around it. Should I b concerned?

Howdy Carmen,

Fecal changes are often tied to dietary changes. Going from a heavy diet of crickets and then adding silkworms or hornworms can lead to watery poop. You might want to take some poop photos and create a new thread.
