Mister alternatives??

I bought a habba mister and it's crap.

Zoo Med makes a Repti Humidifier Fogger. It says ultrasonic...meaning cool mist right?

Could I supplement the fogger for the habba mister? I know they are both pretty cheap but I really can't put over $100 into a mister and I have a small cage so it really isn't practical to make my own either. I still hand mist some and plan to but I need someway to increase humidity drastically.

Or should I just buy a little warm mist room humidifier and put it on the ledge next to the cage? I really don't want to run any tubing and piping.

My humidity is horrible. I have a screen cage. I covered two sides with shower curtain. It isn't helping. The humidity is a consistant 50%, sometimes 60%. It needs to be at least 80%. She shed fine in a couple of hours so she is coping fine.

I have three live plants. An arrowhead, hibiscus, and big spider plant. I initially had only the first two and just added the spider plant in hopes of increasing the humidity but it didn't do a thing.

I have the habba mist and I spray several times a day. I am going to check out that link though, thank-you!

What kind of chameleon is it, that humidity is not horrible imo.

I was going to say, that humidity is actually pretty good, if ever so slightly on the low side.

This was recommended to me, and I have had great success with them. It's just your typical bug sprayer from homedepot or walmart. In walmart, they usually have one that is about $8-$12

I have also learned to integrate the pump sprayer by taking off the tip of the sprayer and attaching 3/8" tubing that runs to nozzles in the cages (one nozzle per cage), I currently have one 2g pump hooked up to 4 nozzles. That way you just pump it up and it mists.
Also I was at my friends house this past weekend, and they found an irrigation system at Homedepot (which I didn't see this past week) that ran about $16 for the box with beige tubes and about 12-15 metal (good quality nozzles). With this system, it requires being hooked up to the garden hose to mist. They had put it on a timer, and with this method no pumping is involved!
Maybe one of them will chime in with the brand name of this product
Last but not least, another consideration, would be to purchase a cool mist humidifier. This regulates my humidity, so that it doesn't drop below 50% btwn mistings! Make sure not to get one with the wick those are NASTY!! Here is an example of basically what you would be looking for:

Thank you!! I think I will probably return the habba mister, which doesn't do anything, and get that pump mister and a cool mist humidifier - and it will cost the same as the habba mister. I am only gone periodically through the day anyway. Thank you everyone for your ideas. I thought I was going to have to save up for an expensive system.

Sounds like a GREAT plan. Take it back! On the forums, those things are frequently referred to as either Habbaspit or Habba$hit lol

From what I understand, the device creates a controllable amount of water vapor, from a spinning disk....which releases into the air and raises the humidity.
One potential downside with this humidifier, is that you have to keep both the bottom part and water chamber VERY CLEAN because it is the perfect breeding ground for molds and bacterias. You must clean it out every time you change the water. Their is a product that you can by to put in the water to help control bacteria and algae growth in the tank. I have something made by Kaz called "Humidifier Bacteriostatic Treatment." I have experienced no ill effects using it with the chameleons, but the humidifier does not blow directly in the cage. Some people alter the flow of the mist through tubes, and create a type of fogger that routes directly in the cage. Because I have not tried the Bacteriostatic in this situation I would not recommend it!
Also the humidifier is not left on at night, it's on the same schedule as the lights.
