Thanks for the suggestions! Why do you think gracilis @Chase ?
Got this photo of a baby flapnecked (near Mombasa several years ago), the flap size looks pretty similar. I'd like it to be gracilis though, would be a new sp for me!
Found this baby in Isiolo, Kenya, but unsure how to differentiate flapnecked and graceful chameleons in general, let alone when it comes to babies. Any help much appreciated!
Hello!
I'm looking for some photographs to show the colouration female Jackson's adopt when accepting or rejecting males, or when gravid. Do please share if you have any! I'm a zoology student and doing some background research for my dissertation. Any anecdotal evidence describing the...
Thank you for the paper! One of the references within is particularly helpful, Lin and Nelson 1980 - according to them, peak ovulation occurs in August, gestation early July to Feb, parturition mid-Jan to March. I've only encountered three young T. j.s, but they were all in Feb/March, so that...
Hi all,
I hope this is the right part of the forum to post my question in. I've tried to do some research online on reproduction in wild Jackson's, but am mostly turning up results for the husbandry of captive chams. Does anyone know whether wild Jackson's have a particular breeding period, or...
I have recently found two slow worms, and for now the male and female are in the same enclosure.
I was wondering whether, if/when the female has any babies, there would be any risk that her mate could harm them? Should I move him into a different cage?
Also, being unsure with exactly how many...
I'm not very clued up on other gecko species, but I wouldn't rule out the Med gecko. I live between France and Kenya, where there are a lot to be found, and they certainly can go dark brown (within a minute, like chameleons).
I don't think we should really be passing judgement on a chameleon we've never met or seen in its home environement. I can see what wavingsnail and Decadancin mean, but on the other hand there are chameleons which are perfectly fine with being handled etc. Besides, for the most part, these...
Not for enclosures. I'm searching for chameleons in the wild, and, to save me time, I'm wondering if there are any plants they're unlikely to visit? I'm only here for a few more days and I'm hoping to find a bearded pygmy!
Thank you (:
Hello (:
I was wondering whether anyone can tell me if female Jackson's (j.j., not j.x., although it may not make any difference) chameleons can have blue throats?
I thought it was only males but the other day I came across a cham which I would definitely have said was a female except that...
I was wondering if anyone could provide me with an explanation for why, out of over 20 von Hohnel's chameleons I've seen during the last month, only one has been female?
I've heard of the sex of crocodile eggs being affected by the temperature, but I don't know if that occurs with chameleons...
