Male veiled just over a year old

I don't think that I want to separate them. I want the person that takes Uncle Rico to have a self-sustaining food source. He stopped eating them for a while, but after I ran out of superworms I just threw in half a dozen roaches and he basically figured that he better eat them or he would...

Male veiled just over a year old

I am selling Uncle Rico, my veiled that I have had for about six months now. Nothing is wrong with him. He has been a great chameleon, I just don't have the time to devote to him. I am in Las Vegas. If interested, PM me or email [email protected]. I will consider all offers, and...

    Reptarium questions

I put the absorbent reptile carpet on top of the table that the cage sits on, and underneath the cage. Not inside the cage, just underneath it so water gets absorbed. Keeps humidity up and isn't inside the cage itself so all of the no substrate nazis on here won't freak out.

    misting syster/drip system

Most of us would agree that if we misted 15 minutes three times a day we would have to keep our chameleons either outside or in the shower which is not realistic. I do two five minute sessions and that's fine. If your chameleon is drinking immediately and stops after 2 minutes, why continue...

What do you feed your Blaptica Dubias?

Fair enough. I never said that I gutload with dogfood though. I just throw dog food in the bottom of the cage to keep them alive. Then I separate two a day or two prior and gutload them with veggies so I think I'm o.k. On another note, any idea how high heat they will tolerate? It's 107...

What do you feed your Blaptica Dubias?

I agree that sponges suck. But they were also free for me and can be reloaded at will. And I'm not sure what you are saying he's "right" about. This isn't a question of right and wrong or black and white but of opinion. . .

What do you feed your Blaptica Dubias?

Mother of mercy you have got to be serious. it's a freaking cockroach. I guarantee you any and every one that we all keep is covered in germs. Germs will grow on every thing that you put in a roach pen, whether you have a food dish or not. The babies eat the poop of the adults for crying out...

What do you feed your Blaptica Dubias?

Why? Isn't that being a bit fussy? I mean really, it's a cockroach. They survive nuclear wars. My roaches will eat anything. I don't use food dishes even, I just throw the food in there. And I use sponges for moisture.

    Greenhornworms

I think the biggest downside to these feeders is how expensive they are. My chameleon will eat two large ones and then not drink for a few days too so they appear to hydrate as well.

    Vitamin A....it scares me

How do they get vitamin A in the wild?

    What do you guys think?

Does he really eat 25 superworms a week at 4 years? Is that a lot or does mine just not eat that much? That seems like a lot. His cage does look awfully sparse though. Live plants are the best, get some.

she bit the crap out of me.....

Could a veiled bite have the same effect? My guy lunges at me whenever I try to open up the cage and do whatever. I have never been bit, but it doesn't look like they have teeth even?

    Reptile carpet as substrate! :3

I use a reptarium and keep it on a wooden table. directly on top of the table and underneath the reptarium mesh i put reptile carpet. It soaks up the water from mistings, keeps it humid in there, and isn't a hygiene issue because it is not inside his case. works great.

    dehydration with misters?

In my limited experience with my veiled he looked the best and most hydrated when I was feeding him hornworms. They have a lot of moisture in them, so when I was feeding him hornworms daily, he would never drink from the misters. Maybe try hornworms.

    Ahhh!! Crickets Escaping.

Once you get your first batch of bulk superworms you'll never waste time with crickets again. Crickets die easily and escape.
