My Panther's name is Sherbert. I know the spelling is off, but when I first saw him I thought he looked like a Herbert. He looks kind of like lime sherbet, and I wanted to keep the Herbert part in his name.
I started with a 38 gallon Reptarium, and now I have a 260 set up. It's ok. I paid $65 for the big one at a herp show. So, for the money, you can't beat it. It's sort of flimsey, and if you try to use a halogen or mercury vapor bulb, you'll burn a hole right through the screen. After setting up...
I had the same problem with my Panther at around 6 months or so. He's calmed down in the last month or so. When I took him out of his cage to move him to the bigger one, I put my hand underneath of the branch that he was on, and used my thumb to get him to climb out on it. He didn't seem to mind...
I've got a reptisun 10.0 along with a compact flouresent bulb. His basking area is about 1 foot below it, and there is another vine that goes right underneath of it.
It's actually a Reptarium brand http://www.reptarium.com/ You can see through it fairly well, but not the greatest. I had a 100 watt halogen bulb on top, and it started melting the mesh. I now have a regular 100 watt spot bulb in a 10" dome, and so far, no problems.
I finally got my 265 Reptarium set up. I got it fairly cheap, and it was easy to set up, but it's a little flimsy for my taste. I'm already making plans to build a custom enclosure. Here are a few pics.
I tried a regular 75 watt yesterday, and it brought the basking area up to about 82 degrees. I'm going to get a 100 watt today, and that should do the trick. Thanks for the info.
I bought a plain jane plastic pot to put my Umbrella tree in. I was thinking of getting some bamboo, splitting it, and securing it around the pot to give it a more aesthetic look. I may get some from Home Depot, but I also know where there is some growing wild around here also.
Hey all,
I'm setting up my 265 reptarium for my Panther Cham today, and I need some suggestions on what size basking lamp. I tried a 100w Zoomed halogen. WOW! Too hot. It started to burn the screening. I put it about 2 inches over a high range plastic thermometer and it melted it. Back to the...
I don't know if I would use this as the most comprehensive guide to safe plants. I saw that they had Animal toxicity listed as one of the categories, but I didn't see any plants that were listed as such. There are many plants that are poisonous to us, that do not harm animals at all. I have seen...
