the diet sounds like a great idea! If that doesn't work, try to put some newspaper around your cage on the outside. Sometimes chameleons won't eat just cuz they're stressed or something and this might help.

How would you ensure that there is good ventilation? HOld some toilet paper and see if it moves near the cage to make sure the air is moving?
