Yeah, I'm a failed reefer and future cham keeper (lots of experience when I was younger), and it's unbelievable how behind reptile keeping is comparatively. I think you'll see Leap changing this over the next 5 years.
Their parent company is Ecotech... A major player in saltwater/reef aquarium products. If they continue down the path that Ecotech follows (which they hint at in multiple podcasts)... They are going to completely change keeping reptiles. The saltwater tech and automation is decades ahead of...
Are there any Cristifer breeding projects progressing? I know primo has been one of the only, and last I heard it was looking like that was maybe coming to an end. It’s a species I’m interested in, but don’t necessarily want to go that direction if it’s going to be a dead end.
Obviously make sure with the specific brand that you purchase. Regardless... you’ll want to seal it anyway, but it’s nice to know that it isn’t necessarily treated chemically.
Thanks for all the replies!
As of now the cage I’ll be building will be 72” tall, 36” wide and @30” deep. The wife doesn’t know it’ll be this big yet, gotta work on that.
Thanks for the replies. It all makes sense. I guess one thinking would be that PAR from the plant lights may become too low with a taller cage? I guess if you just plant light appropriate plants at lower levels you’d probably be good.
Is there a particular reason that all cage suggestions seem to top out at 48 inches tall? Is it because there is no added benefit in going much taller than that?
