Chances are your calcium powder is calcium carbonate, which needs a relatively acidic environment to dissolve. It will just clump up in water into a sort of cement that can cause impaction. You can buy a liquid calcium supplement with a dropper. I would go with that.

In my experience it is not a problem as long as he is not actually sleeping in the daytime. My cham tends to move to his sleeping spot every day about an hour before lights out, too.

The problem with gentamicin is that he won't get very much systemic exposure if its only given orally. Most likely he will need an injection to get a hold on the infection as it sounds like it has progressed into some deeper tissue that won't be accessible by oral gentamicin.

Haha so true. He always looks away whenever I actually snap the picture. The only time I've ever gotten a picture of him looking with both eyes is too blurry to make out any details. Thanks for the warm welcome!
