    Hemipenals? 6 month old chameleon

Thank you for your reply, it did retract. Should I be concerned with cleaning that area? Have been misting his vent to try and heal the area. Is this a good thing to do, is there something better?

    Hemipenals? 6 month old chameleon

Am not sure if Zeppelin is maturing faster than expected or if I should be concerned about prolapse... I think this was a hemipenal (pardon my spelling if its incorrect). They have retracted but want to be sure he is not infected or if I should take him to a vet.

Day 7 - One week of happiness

Zeppelin came into our lives one week ago. He is a healthy panther ambilobe male. I hope to post updates about him and things I learn along the way. He is my first chameleon and am proud to be his momma! Our first day was a busy one. He spent most of his time on a bamboo branch in his cage. He...

My veiled's head is gray. Don't know why.

Sodium Not having seen it myself, but having read, this might be an excess in sodium or chloride. It is said to be harmless and a natural way for them to get rid of excess minerals. http://chameleonnews.com/02NovDonoghue.html

Great advice Thank you for the feedback. Have lowered the temp and moved the light away. He was hatched at the end of February, but he is much bigger than I thought. Just a good eater maybe, why he fits in our home, lol.

ladders Did you make the ladders on your own? What did you use to attache the steps to the frame/sides? the bamboo you purchased was malleable enough to curve, or did you have to soak it before you were able to curve it? Very very intricate setup, well done!!!

    oil based stain

Water based poly can go over oil based stain, have done it many times myself. The key is to allow your stain to fully dry before applying your top coat. I.E 12 hours. The great thing about water poly is that it dries quickly to the touch and can be re-coated 2-3 times within a day. Your curing...
