    Swyft passed away this weekend.

After a long battle with repeated food strikes, despite what I offered him, how often I offered food, how many food cups I left around, Swyft has given up. I wont be getting anymore chameleons, I apparently don't have what it takes to care for them. Swyft, your constant request to climb on...

    Just checking in

Swyft is still being a brat about eating but he does eat. Just one superworm here and there. For awhile I am pretty sure he was eating gnats and flies that were in the room. (I have a natural turtle habitat and we tend to get bugs from that) He drinks a lot, poops, and is active, and still...

    Still hanging in there

Swyft is still hanging in there and finished a shedding. I now have a larger feeding dish for him at the base of his tree/shelf and he seems to be liking that. He watches down at the bugs then climbs down the pole covered with fake-vines to check out what I put in there. My digital...

I tried waxworms but they did not move enough for him, no interest. I am currently working on starting my own superworm breeding batch. I can try crickets again in a cup, he is free-range so I was staying away from the high-hopping-escape artist of crickets and he had really liked the dubias...

    Don't know when I caved

Swyft turned grey, extremely skinny, looked like he was going to die. I finally offered superworms and he has been eating those heartily ever since. I'd rather feed him superworms than have him die, obviously. I had tried all sizes of dubias and offered a different type of roach "death...

    dubia set-up

Mine are in coconut bark and organic dirt stuff. I am not raising them, this is just what's in their holding tank. I buy every week or two, depending on the appetites. Then I have cottage-cheese lids with food on them, and I mist. Its a 10 gallon tank with a screen lid. Oh and they have a...

    dubia set-up

Looks clean! Personally I have substrate with mine to burrow into as I like them to have a natural burrowing experience. Then I use a slotted spoon to sift them out. (ya, that's natural, ha!) People say they can't climb but I have had them climb out of a plastic feeding dish. Just to be...

    Mean/aggressive panther??

You can try opening his cage and just standing there. No noise or talking sweetly very quietly. I would also avert my eyes, looking at the floor or just anywhere not directly at him. Then close the cage. Stand for longer instances each time, watch his body language to see if it settles...

    Cleaning and rearranging

Cleaned out the room today and rearranged a bit. I bought a space-heater for the room as last year I kept the entire house extra warm and it cost me a lot. I was able to arrange things in such a way that I don't believe he can get off his tree to the floor finally. I wasn't too worried before...

    Cup feeding,, not working..

I use a shallow wide-mouthed solid white cup (I believe its a cottage cheese cup) so he doesn't get afraid to get close to it. He seems to prefer it over the to-go plastic drink cups.http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Original_Photo/2007/06/20/1182356858_8794.jpg

    Possibly Semi-Free Ranging Reptar

They don't stay on their designated area. It seems logical that they would love their tree, vine-like bridge to another tree, and just stay in the area created for them but they don't. They're explorers. Its like asking a kitten to stay on the floor, not gonna happen. If you can think of all...

    I'm about to cave.

Still doing a Dubia Stand-Off. I now suspect he is eating a fly or two that is in the room because there is no way he has gone this long without eating something. He looks great, color is beautiful, alert and eyed a dubia this morning but then shunned away. Whatever dude. I am misting...

    Animal Hoarding?

Add another dog to this. Daisy joined the pack a couple of weeks ago and has fit in beautifully! She was a "chained in the yard" dog and is VERY appreciative of house-living with us. (beautiful red bloodhound)

    Dubia stand-off

Swyft still isn't eating since I stopped offering the superworms. I'm offering every other day a dusted dubia and no sign of interest. Stubborn. Other than that he looks good. Supposed to be warm all week so I have the window cracked during the day for fresh air and am misting in the...
