    Leg Lifting Up??

My Jackson's chameleon has been lifting his leg up for the past couple hours, much like a dog does as it pees. Has anyone else seen weird behavior like this? His leg is completely fine, its not injured.

    Possible reasons for lethargy?

My new Jackson's chameleon has been in his new home for about two weeks now. I am slightly concerned because the past three days or so he has been very inactive and lethargic. He has basically been basking all day and the temperature in his basking sopt is about 82. His color is solid lime green...

After a week with my first chameleon! Any tips??

When is a good time to stop cup feeding?

I have a 6 month old Jackson's chameleon, and I am worried he is too small for his cage so he wont find the tiny crickets (which love to hide). I am going to try cup-feeding and hand feeding (silkworms) but I am curious as to when to stop cup feeding and let the crickets loose. Any ideas?

Does anyone have experience with breeding silkworms?

I need some tips and tricks for breeding silkworms. Is inbreeding a problem? Or can I just keep breeding together the offspring of the original ones that I buy? Thanks, -Nick

How can I be sure my chameleon is getting all the crickets?

I'm not exactly sure how old he is. He has little horns, and he is much smaller than an adult. He does have his green coloration.

How can I be sure my chameleon is getting all the crickets?

I put in about 4-5 crickets in my chameleon's cage every morning. I am wondering if he is hunting down every one. How can I be sure without cup feeding? He is pretty young, and very active. Should I just keep putting crickets in and assume that if he's hungry he will find them? I want him to get...

how do chameleons perfer to sleep? on a slanted branch or on a strait branch?

My jackson's chameleon sleeps both vertically and horizontally. Keep in mind chameleons like to sleep on flimsy and wobbly vines/branches because it makes them feel secure. This is because if a predator disturbs the environment, the wobbly branch will vibrate and wake them up. I try to make sure...

    Misting and plants

Should I be watering my live plants if I am misting 2-3 times per day? I have a rather large umbrella tree, and a china doll plant. Humidity is around %50 on average, and I drip for about 30 minutes daily along with misting 2-3 times a day. Should I still be pouring water into my plants? Or will...

    Weeping fig

I have heard all over the place that ficus plants (weeping fig) are great for keeping chameleons. I also heard that they are mildly toxic and contain irritating sap, will this be a problem for my jackson's? He is a juvenile male jackson's and I don't want his skin being irritated. Any advice? If...

    Bottom of the cage

I use paper towels to line the bottom of my enclosure. They are great for keeping humidity, easy to clean, and I've heard they harbor less bacteria than substrate. I was wondering how often I should replace them. Does anyone else use paper towels on the bottom? Or is there a better approach that...
