    Male Ambilobe Panther

Unfortunately, I have to downsize my collection after moving into an apartment and have to sell my male blue-bar. He is about 20 months old and and doesn't mind being held. He is the most "social" chameleon I have seen. As soon as the cage is open he is running out to try and get food from you...

    new members veiled & panther

Glad you like the little guy!! The Sire of that little fella is super calm... so you might very well have a calm one. I used to take the sire to do education shows at colleges and high schools. He would have sit in a little tree that I would bring for him and just chill and without fail he would...

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

Good points... the herpetology exhibits at the Atlanta zoo only display about a quarter of the animals they have at any given time. Also, while zoo staff typically aren't experts on every animal in their care, my point was more that they likely have more formal instruction as to the care of...

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

Interesting discussion.... Ethics aside, here are my thoughts. I have maintained several breeding groups of P.m. grandis and have a few pertinent observations. 1) Male giant day geckos get BIG.... some 12 + inches (hence the name) 2) They are extremely active and aggressive feeders 3)...

    Dead-eye

If I have time sometime soon I will try and get video of him aiming at my eyes. When I open the screen with no food in hand and look straight at him you can definitely tell he is watching me eyes. Then he will do the stretch and both of his eyes will lock on one of mine - that's when I know to...

    Dead-eye

Yeah I guess he thought his cage was clean enough!!! I am just curious what would have happened if I would have been wearing contacts!

    Dead-eye

Yeah the ol' eye is allright. My wife heard me yell and came running into the cham room.. . but she couldn't quit laughing to see if I was allright. He aims at my eyes quite frequently, but I usually catch him with his tongue out right before he shoots and I can move away. This time however...

    Dead-eye

Wow, so I have a rather overly food aggressive panther chameleon.... Whenever I come to the cage he immediately starts sticking his tongue out and running for the open door - as soon as I hold my hand out he will snatch whatever food I have. In general it is awesome to have a chameleon that...

    Fruit Flies in Plants

Before you focus on getting rid of the ones that you have try and focus on getting rid of the source..... Most often fruit flies in cham cages are associated with moist areas where feces, dead crickets,and/or any other decaying materials are found. This is where the fruit flies lay their eggs...

    disappointed..or is there a way??

I would recommend getting a thermometer to figure out exactly how cool your room is at night... you may be willing to reach a "compromise." You don't have to go without AC but maybe if you didn't let it dip below 60-65 F in your room your animals would appreciate it. Those temps are pretty cool...

    November Post Processing

Sorry to dig up the old thread.... I was just making sure I understood the post-processing. Brad, thanks for the clarification.

    November Post Processing

So to clarify - there is no post processing allowed in the normal contest? Two pictures are attached, the duller photo is the original and the second is a photo that is brightened (slightly exaggerated). Not normally allowed, correct? Because - not to mention the fact the background is way to...
