Vet Diagnosis: Mouth Rot / Stomatitis
Treating with Baytril and applying betadine to the lips. I think he's feeling better. He hissed and tried to bite me:eek::eek:He was quite subdued previously.
I noticed the same things. Hydrating today with some Hornworms. Noticed he struggling to swallow. I hand fed them to him, he doesn't appear to strike. left eye closes sometimes. Inside of mouth appears to be fairly dry. Have no knowledge of his previous husbandry. Has beautiful color sometimes...
I've just aquired an older Nosy Be. Was told he was several years old. He has a weird growth on the side of his lower lip and his lips seem to be relaxed. Anyone seen anything like this and have any recommendations. Off to the Vet next week for a look.
Help needed quickly Panther Eggs are hatching now!!!
Here's a bit of background. We purchased our female from a local Reptile store in late December. She was not for sale due to the fact that she had just laid a clutch. However, we persuaded the store owner to let her go. On February 1st, she...
Help needed quickly Panther Eggs are hatching now!!!
I just checked on my Panther eggs and I have live hatchlings. Some appear to be dead as they are not moving. However, several are moving and crawling .
What should I do now? Do I mist them right away or go get some pin heads or flies?
Some...
Well, it was $164.00 including baytril and silvadene. They put her out and excised it, removed the yuck and cleaned the area out. She is doing well today I'm happy to report.
Understand about spending money needlessly at the Vet. I never suspected that my Nosy be would have parasites because I figured coming from a site sponsor, it must be in good health. Well lesson learned! I too was concerned about the fish oil/ vit A treatment. I read the thread Jim Fleherty (...
Update! Took her to the vet today and had it lanced and cleaned. She is now on antibiotics. She was under anesthesia during the procedure and appears to be ok. She (the vet) didn't think it was causing breathing issues but I'm not sure I agree, Otherwise I don't think she would have been holding...
Thanks everyone! Vet visit tomorrow. I've just switched to a new vet that seems to be much more experienced with Reptiles. They were recommended by another vet that I've known for years. Happy with them so far. We'll see how this episode goes.
Definitely going back to the Vet. I'm a believer in Vet care. Here is another picture. I'm concerned because since she was at the vet a few weeks ago it has gotten bigger since then. It may be blocking her nasal passages.
Congrats on the recent batch of eggs, I feel your excitement. I bought my wife an adult female Ambilobe on Christmas. The reptile store didn't want to sell her because she had just laid a clutch of eggs.
But because I'm a frequent customer I convinced the store owner to let her go. Well just...
Thanks for the reply, I might add that she sometimes holds her mouth open for a few seconds, less than a minute. It is almost as if she is having breathing issues. She recently has some crust on her nostrils also. She was put on antibiotics because she was blowing mucus bubbles from her...
