Help...veiled's health declining quickly and inexplicably

The good news is he seems better today. Walking more normally and such. To answer your question, I had him for about six or seven months before the edema started. The whole time I was using calcium plus d3 every feeding before I found out that that was a bad thing. Once the edema started I...

Help...veiled's health declining quickly and inexplicably

Ataraxia, the vet recommended feeding it to the crickets 12 hours before giving them to my cham. I don't know if that would make a difference? Either way, I'm still not sure of any course of action to take. Does anyone have an idea what would be a best bet?

Help...veiled's health declining quickly and inexplicably

I use brown crickets only. I'm not convinced the Mazuri is the source of the edema because the edema started BEFORE I bought it (that's why I visited the vet and when she suggested I use it).

Help...veiled's health declining quickly and inexplicably

In the past few days my male veiled (about 2 yrs old) has suddenly seemed really weak and is having a really hard time moving around. It almost seems like how I've heard MBD being described...hanging off the branches and grasping at his own legs and body with his feet. Recently I moved back...

    Tips on keeping chameleons outside?

I want to keep my veiled outside but I have a few concerns. I live in eastern PA and currently our temps have been just reaching 70, going into the 50s at night. I'm sure it will warm up soon, and due to a miserable week of cloudy, rainy weather, I've been keeping him inside at the moment. My...

    Reptile Rescue in PA?

Yes, unfortunately they DO allow cats and dogs, but specifically no reptiles. It's really strange, but I plan on bringing it up with the owners of the property management groups. There really isn't a reason I can think of that they'd be opposed to a chameleon except for maybe cricket escapes...

    Reptile Rescue in PA?

I am going to be moving to MO at the end of the summer and so far, the apartments I've looked at do not allow reptiles. I'm afraid I might have to leave my veiled behind, but do not have family or friends that would want a chameleon. I refuse to give him to someone I'm not positive has...

    Decreased stool on antibiotics?

Thanks Elizadolots. He has been acting normally otherwise since he developed the problem and the doctor didn't seem to be too worried so I'm hoping for a full recovery. I tried the shower bit the other day to no avail. I'm in Philadelphia and the temp hasn't gone past 50 in the past few weeks so...

    Decreased stool on antibiotics?

Thanks for your input. I took my guy back to the vet on Friday and they think he has some colonitis going on. Tests showed his white count was still elevated as well as some dehydration. They gave me a second antibiotic and some stool softener to facilitate emptying his colon and instructed me...

    Decreased stool on antibiotics?

I took my veiled chameleon to the vet about a month ago in response to some swelling in his neck area. Blood tests came back okay except for a raised white count that indicated infection. Still waiting on x-ray results. I started him on injections of ceftazidime every three days and am nearing...

New user: veiled chameleon has a strange blue spot?

Hi, I found this site while looking on the internet for help with a strange spot that showed up on my veiled chameleon's arm recently. I'm going to follow the outline for asking for help: Chameleon info - I got him last June and he hasn't had any problems eating, drinking, or climbing...
