Red runners are my cricket substitute. They are inexpensive, easy to breed, don't smell and don't die off like crickets. As a bonus they really can move and are thus far more appealing to my veiled than a dubia. I place them in a hanging feeding cup and don't think I've seen one escape yet.
What are you feeding your red runners in? Are they just running around in the enclosure or are they in a cup of some sort? My veiled loves grasshoppers as well, but they are quite expensive and so easy to get year-round.
I got one of these fixtures a little over a week ago. My enclosure is about 56” tall and it appears to be bright enough to keep the small hibiscus at the bottom happy. I obviously have not had the light for long but pleased with it so far.
I've got about 20 silkworms that she won't eat. I've had two in the cage all day and she completely ignores them. She actually walked over one of them several times. On the bright side, she did eat a roach today, which was the first time in a couple of weeks (This is a good thing since I have...
Crickets just sat in the bottom of the shooting gallery, didn't move and didn't get eaten. In the Full Throttle type feeder, they mostly just jumped off and into the cage never to be found again.
Perhaps I am having more of an issue with crickets than I am with the feeder systems. My cham...
Curious if anyone has tried either of these feeder dishes? I have tried both the Full Throttle type as well as the shooting gallery and didn't have a ton of success with either.
This is what I am doing, also in So Cal. Outdoor temps currently about 57 at night with approximately 80% humidity. It's getting to the point where I am slightly uncomfortable leaving my young veiled outside. My garage will get to about 62 degrees if I leave the window open. If it gets...
The tarp was only on there temporarily as the sun was a bit intense at that time of day. Generally speaking, the screen top is completely exposed. UVB is not an issue. I have tried feeding hornworms and she would not take them, unfortunately. I have two
more left and may give her one today...
Update: The chameleon continued with the eyes closed, no eating and very dark in color after the visit to the vet last Wednesday. It’s been pretty touch and go, but she finally ate (a single silkworm) today, and she has been alert with her green coloration returning. Not totally out of the...
I unfortunately didn't get to see Dr. Greek himself, but one of his office colleagues. They reviewed what was done by the previous vet, did a physical exam, gave her a subcutaneous fluids injection and then said to just wait it out. They indicated it was possible that the Panacur and other...
