I use the arcadia products to provide UV to my chameleons. I use their 12% T5 uv tubes to light my chameleons (panthers, jackons, fischers and in the past veileds).
This will provide good UV levels and only need replacing every 12 months. Give John at arcadia an email an he will tell you...
As said it could be the light. It could be the compact. Personally I would always use tubes. They give much better uv coverage that is more natural. I personally use 12% high output T5 bulbs on my chameleons and don't have eye issues so the strength you have shouldn't be causing it. It may be...
I guess I do have females then. As the picture shows (the best I could get at the minute) there are tiny stubs but nothing very large. I am hoping for two females, one for me and one for a friend
Anyone good at sexing baby kinyongia boehmei? I have two babies that I hatched three and half months ago and am trying to work out their sex. Their heads are very red so I'm leaning towards females but input would be appreciated.
Thanks
I had the same problem with my female.
My female did lay a few eggs after three oxytocin injections though but she still had 60 inside her. She went in for surgery and came through it well. She wouldn't eat after though and died about a week after surgery.
My biggest piece of advice...
You will be fine at temperatures as low as 15c. If you do want to have some hating a camera in on a stat is what you want, a heat mat will be useless.
You would hope that they would seek out heat but they don't. Once they are asleep they stay there so really you want to up the whole cages...
Pygmy really do not need much seupplementation, especially compared to veileds and panthers. Personally I would use it one or twice a week max. I prefer a separate calcium powder really.
I would use plain calcium once a week and the calcium plus one or twice a month
What you will find is you may need to swap wattage bulbs depending on the time of year so you may use the 100 watt for winter and a 60 or 40 watt for warmer weather. It's all trial and error and seeing what works.
For a cage that size you really need a tube style uv bulb. No compact uv bulb is going to give anywhere near good levels of uv for a chameleon in that sizes cages. I would go with a 10.0 linear uv tube on top of the cage.
Make sure the chameleon is getting enough food as it will be quite...
Ideally you want a tube uv bulb that runs the entire length of the top of the cage. I personally don't use and don't recommend the use of the compact bulbs but some people use them.
I know the shop you are talking about in the UK. Any of the panthers will be nice but the US panthers that he imported have produced stunning babies that are much better looking than most EU babies produced.
