Is this possible? Did I do the wrong thing?

Took Hatty to the vet yesterday and had her scanned. She did indeed have several big follicles. Because she hadn't had time to recover from her first clutch and was starting to fall and lose interest in food, the vet advised spaying while she was still strong enough to withstand the surgery. She...

Oh dear. In that case Hatty’s probably about to lay! Glad I asked.

Yes I love to see her eat. Gotta harden my heart! Maybe we can lose weight together!

Is this possible? Did I do the wrong thing?

Yes I have probably over-fed her. She’s a bit of a hog! I will certainly cut back as soon as she is well again. X

Is this possible? Did I do the wrong thing?

Thank you all. I’ve booked the earliest possible vet visit on Wednesday. Just to be clear, Hatty has always had a lay bin in her viv but chose to lay in a pot plant in a window sill. Thanks for your kind words GoodKarma. I adore Hatty. My only other female, Boo, died after getting eggbound...

Is this possible? Did I do the wrong thing?

Thanks everyone. Trouble with my phone so excuse delays. Hatty usually has about 5-6 4th gen brown crickets per day and a locust or two or a few calciworms. But in the past week she is only really having about one or two feeders a day and is most interested in super worms (morios)

Is this possible? Did I do the wrong thing?

My 10 month old Panther girl, Hatty, laid her first clutch of 26 eggs about six weeks ago, having been gravid colours for about a month. I removed the infertile eggs the next day and she went back to normal very quickly, and shed a week later. However, within a couple of weeks she was showing...

    Help and advice really needed!

Hi - sounds as if you should take your girl to the vet to see if they can help you get her other eggs out. I have no direct experience of gravid females but search the forums here and I'm sure others have had similar experiences. Definitely call the shop - they owe you free advice! Also, listen...

    Cham gone crazy!

I am delighted to say that Boo's been great since those weird episodes. I moved her viv and she has been much calmer. Then this morning she fed from my hand for the first time ever. Four waxworms in quick succession. Before today she wouldn't even let me SEE her eat! Really happy. :)

    Cham gone crazy!

Thanks for all your advice. I covered the sides of Boo's viv and there have been no further incidents. She is now eating and pooing fine again and not reacting to me at all - other than keeping a beady eye! Not sure I'll ever know what scared her so badly - maybe just part of becoming mature, as...

    Cham gone crazy!

Indeed. It sounds like you have a pretty good understanding of what a terrorized chameleon looks and acts like from the personal experience of your own terrorized and panicky wild-caughts. Having never seen a panicked chameleon myself - possibly due to years of sensitive handling - I can only...

    Cham gone crazy!

lol this makes me feel slightly better! I was assured Carpets were super-docile but I'm starting to wonder... Yes I have put a lay bin in her cage just in case :) Also covered the sides of her viv and this morning she ate. Fingers crossed...
