Basically, we turned the entire bottom of cage into a lay bin. She can't climb but does seem stronger. Anyway, she was not in the area where she laid the eggs when we removed them.
We haven't made changes to her cage yet as it's been functioning as a hospital room so to speak. We didn't...
I had posted awhile back (https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/newbie-need-advice.176068/).
Our vet suggested keeping cage outside in summer as much as possible and continuing to give calcium supplement, providing egg laying substrate, and adequate water and temp. We've been doing...
Just a little update and hoping to get a little advice. It's been well over a month since she has eaten anything. Today she at two crickets!!!!!! She seems stronger and eating seems like a positive as before she had no interest, but she is still wobbly.
But we have yet to see any eggs...
P.S. after taking her out and looking more closely I just don't see any eggs. I see poop. Not sure how she can poop when she is not eating. : ( : (. :(
It's been a least four weeks since this all started....probably longer.
Been giving calcium every day. Still has not eaten. But -- NEWS FLASH -- we found one egg last night!!!!!!!!
Does a chameleon lay eggs all at once or over a period of time? If over a period of time, about how long can...
There really is no change. From what I've read it seems like this is MBD. I see it is quite serious. We are giving calcium drops every day, she refuses to eat. I think she needs more. help than we can give. She needs to be under the care of someone who knows what they are doing. We just...
Thank you. But I already was a crazy cat lady!!
I posted a pic of her in the cage earlier in the thread. Basically, right now it is a plastic tub filled with this substrate I bought (maybe it is bioactive as you mention). I don't know how moist it should be. I'm overthinking everything. I...
So....nothing new. The vet says it could take up to two months for her to lay her eggs since she didn't have a substrate before and may need time to get used to it/feel safe. He also says it is ok if she isn't eating. I guess reptiles can go quite a while without food. Water is needed though...
So. Now when I peek she is sitting in the hole we made for her. I hope this is a good sign.
What do you do about the water dripper so that it doesn’t soak the egg nest or cage in general?
Again. I am so grateful for all of you who took the time to respond. This is so stressful.
I don't know how long she has had the gold splotches. I don't see a D3 supplement in my son's room. Do we need to get one?
Sorry. I've only very recently become involved in her care and am quickly learning more about chameleons than I have ever known or even wanted to know!!
We did try to...
OK. Will make larger hole. Should we put her in the hole butt first? We are trying our best. My son bought her at pet store. Did research and cared for her best he could, but clearly mistakes have been made. I feel just terrible about it, but we are doing our best. Should we be offering food?
Yes. it is liquid calcium that she is getting. We have raised her nesting bed so it is closer to lights. Tried to make holes for her. Thank you so much for all your responses.
