I have always been told to have a dish with water and an air pump so the water moves. He seems to likes it I have seen him down on the end of the water dish while. Is this wrong to have? Please let me know.

Ok we have got to get Jaspers cage fixed up right. We want him to be a happy and most important a healthy cham.

First, no water bowl. Chameleons drink from a dripper and from being misted. How ofen do you mist? Do you have a dripper?

Second, nothing on the floor. Leave it bare and you can clean it easier and no bacteria should grow.

Tell me about your lights. You need a Reptilesun 5.0 tube light. You can get one here: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...por-bulbs/-/zoo-med-24-repti-sun-50-uvb-bulb/

What kind of cham do you have and how old? You MIGHT need a basking light which can be a household bulb (40 watt or so)

Your lights need to be across the top of the cage and you need allot of vines and branches 8 inches or so down from the top.

What it the white thing in the bottom?

While we are at it what are you feeding your cham? How are you gutloading the feeders? Tell me about your supplements and how you are using them.

Post a few pics of Jasper. I'd love to see him. You are off to a good start just need to make a few changes to make it perfect.

I moved your PM questions over here so I can answer them. My PM box is small and very full.

Hey thank you so much for answering me. I now have figured out the pet store is full of BS when they set me up. I have answered all the questions you asked me. I have some additional questions if you dont mind me asking. When I remove the carpet from the bottom and put in the real plants how will he get to the crickets. They usually are on the bottom and Jasper goes down near the bottom to get to them. Should I change it up and feed him wax worms from a dish that hangs in the plants? And Where can I get a dripper? Again thank you so much for helping me out!

I do not have a dripper but I mist 5-6 times a day with warm water. Where can I get a dripper from?

I have fake grass on the ground. The plants in there right now are fake I am going tomorrow to buy some real plants.

I have a 40watt heat lamp for the day and a 40watt heat lamp for the night (red light) I also have a 25 watt UVB bulb and I have the lights on 7:30am-8:30pm

What kind of cham do you have and how old? You MIGHT need a basking light which can be a household bulb (40 watt or so)

I have a 2 month old Veild Cham

Your lights need to be across the top of the cage and you need allot of vines and branches 8 inches or so down from the top.

Can I just use branches from out side?

What it the white thing in the bottom?

For a little 2 month old he might not be big enough to free range crickets in his cage. You could cup feed him. Here's a video about cup feeding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IocvhTduOtc&feature=channel_page

You could start giving him some small worms. Wax worms are high in fat so not too many.

You can make a homemade dripper. Take a plastic cup or bowl and poke a couple of very small holes in the bottom. Fill it with very warm water and make sure it drips very slow over a vine with leaves so your little guy can drink form the leaves. Also mist for a pretty long time. It takes awhile for them to start drinking. I would mist 3 or 4 times a day for 5 minutes or so. You will need drainage for your cage. Maybe some holes in the bottom with a bucket sitting under it to catch the water.

Branches from outside are ok from most trees. Clean them well and some member bake them in the oven. Cut the branch the size you need and thumb tacks can be use on each end to hold the branches up.

You have to have the 5.0 UVB bulb like the one in the link. It has to be the tube style. A must to keep you guy from having MBD. Where do you live? If it's fairly warm in your house at 2 months old you will not need a basking bulb. How are you measuring the heat and humidity? At 2 months he should be 80 in his basking spot. At night he needs to be dark, no light, and cool so he can rest. He should be 10 degrees cooler at night than in the daytime but not below 65 at his age.

Jaspers feeders have to be "lightly" dusted with 3 kinds of supplements. Plain calcium (no d3) at just about every feeding. Calcium with d3 twice a month and a multi. vit. once a month. In this link I use the 1st, 3rd and 5th one.

You need to gut load the crickets with more than just apple. Collard greens are excellent. You can also use kale, carrots, squash and orange. You can also buy a premixed gut load. One of the members here sales it. https://www.chameleonforums.com/gutload-sale-30579/

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your little guy!

Also here's an excellent link on keeping veileds. http://raisingkittytheveiledchamele...-max=2008-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&max-results=11

Oh and some more good news Jasper is drinking off the leaves this is the first time I have seen him drink!!!! YaY..... Thank you for all your help!!!!

Glad to hear!
It's good thing you made these changes right away!
Good luck with him, I bet he loves the way his house is right now :)

It was Pet Paradise in Pueblo Colorado.... I went in there and showed them pitures of my new set up... The guy seemd kinda sad that I didnt follow his set up.

Im glad to see that you made the changes right away. Much better! My video with the feeding cup that jannb showed you is one way you can do it. The video you showed us is also good and will still work. Im glad your taking your time to listen to what people on here have to say to help you. Some( not most) people will start fighting back and saying rude things and not taking advice. Good job on the cage!

Great improvement but you still need to get the correct lighting and supplements. What supplements do you have? Jasper has to have the correct UVB as mentioned and the correct supplements. A must for his health.

I have a 25 watt UVB and a 40 watt basking light. I ordered the supplements that Jannb suggested. I went and bought some calcium until my shipment arrives. I am also getting the tube light also suggested I think I may have to order that as well because I couldnt find it around town

Another member posted this place and they have the UVB bulbs cheaper and the supplements. Make sure to get this kind of bulb. Very important. http://www.petmountain.com/product/...lbs/504985/zoo-med-reptisun-5.0-uvb-bulb.html
You can buy your fixture at WalMart or Home Depot cheaper.

You need the top three supplements and you will use the green one at just about every feeding. http://www.petmountain.com/category/417/1/reptile-supplements.html

Just a small suggestion for posting, when you are posting pictures, try to make them fit the forum. ;)

Some people skip threads with large pictures just because it gets a little annoying.

You have some great advice on this thread, Renzo.
