Help rescue jackson's questions

Before any of you guys grill me on how bad of an idea this is...

I have a rescue Jackson's that has been given to me for free. I don't have him right now, I will be building a new enclosure for him, and getting a fogger, misting system, plants, and probably a checkup at the vet. I will post pics as soon as I can. He has a broken right horn, swollen wrist, and is probably dehydrated. He is a 9 month old male Jackson's Xanth. Since he is not in the best condition, I need you guys to help me with appropriate feeding, supplementing, etc. Thank you all, and do not give me a hard time on this decision.

Here's a pic of him:

Oh, you're welcome. He's a cute little chameleon. He does look like he's not feeling well though. I hope you can bring him around so we can see pictures of him all healthy and happy.

Jacksons are my second favorites. I hope you get him to feeling better, he's a handsome little guy.

If he is dehydrated here is what you should do. It is what I did and really helped mine that was dehydrated come around. Get a spray bottle with some filtered water about room temperature. Lightly and I mean very lightly start spraying him in the mouth. Mine was very thirsty and opened his mouth and started drinking the water as I was spraying it in his mouth. He would sit there and drink for like 10 minutes non stop. I did this many times a day for the first 3 days I had him. Every time he would gladly accept the water. After that he really came around and was very active and would then drink on his own. Keep us updated on his progress.

Glad you are trying to save him. Try to get him to drink a lot of water. Good Luck with bringing him around! Keep us updated!

I agree with Eliza why we would give you a hard time for taking on a chameleon that has issues? We commend you!!!! Good luck with him and I hope your tlc will do him a world of good and he will have a complete turn around.

I'm wary of suggestions to spray directly into their mouths. It's possible for the water to get into their lungs. I find dripping water directly onto their noses to be very helpful in encouraging drinking...they just don't seem able to resist licking that bit of water off.

Just what I was thinking. Definitely don't want to drown him :)

Thank you all guys, I really appreciate it :) He is coming tomorrow, the lady that is selling him to me was just doing research, and it appears the "breeder" she got him from was importing wild Jackson's. So I will probably need to get him checked for parasites, etc. I also really appreciate all the kind things you are saying, thanks I needed this confidence to get this guy back to health!

That poor little guy!! I'm sure you can get him whipped into shape in no time! Good luck, and thanks for saving him! (Can't wait to see pics of him in a few months...) :D
