gut instinct saved her

The last time went so smoothly..all the tell tale signs, the behaviour, then finally the eggs in the hole..you think you’ve got it all worked out...
This time ,everything the same except a bigger laying bin , which seemed to make her dig constantly. After 4 days of on and off digging a long tunnel ,9am everything went quiet so i thought she was laying, by 11.30 there was still no noise so i took the gamble and went to investigate Her tunnel had collapsed from the inside and encased her completely. When i dug her out she was gasping for breath washed the sand/mix from her mouth in a small container of luke warm water, and let her warm under her lights. took her to the vet ,she
had an oxytocin injection and has spat out 30 eggs up till now sitting on a branch as we speak.(8.30pm)
i don’t know what went wrong this time think my head told me to not interfere. Everything was in place, but if i hadn’t dug her out, i know she would have died. Of course , this might not work ,if there is a next time ,or for anyone else ,but I’m glad i did.

I've heard of tunnels collapsing on them before. Glad you checked on her and you and her got through everything all right in the end.

Glad it turned out well.:) This is a case of doing all the wrong things right and being happy you did. All of us would tell you not to do what you did, but again the bottom line is it is your chameleon and you have to decide what you need to do. I call that taking responsibility for your actions. I applaud you for following your judgment since you were there and not some of ours who weren't there.

One of my females recently had her tunnel collapse on her. I got her out not too long after it happened and she was fine and subsequently laid her eggs. Not sure what happened - I did the laying bin the same way I always do it. Probably just one of those things.

Great job on getting her out of there.

 Poor l'il girl! Poor you! She doesn't do things the easy way ever does she?! I am so glad you acted on your instinct - you saved her life! That reminds me that I really should re-dampen Amy's box in the hope that she may actually decide to use it quite soon!

Bless her - certainly sounds like you found her in the nick of time. Well done for being so in tune with her and aware of what can go wrong. You are a great 'chamele-mum'!
