Well my female turned brown a few days ago. So as some of you have said, maybe I should fill out that questionaire. Its just that all my answers to those questions are spot on to the text-book answers. But for those of you who couldn't even give me ANY sort of help without it, here ya go.
1. It's a standard sized mesh cage 4'tallX30''X24''
2. Repti-sun 5.0 UVB and Repti-sun 100W tropical basking heat bulb (on from 8:00am-9:30pm) No night light.
3. I use 2 digital Thermometers (very accurate) one at the basking spot, one about 2' lower. Basking temp right now is at 84.6 degrees F. Ambient is 74.4 degrees F. The night time temp drops to about 66-68 degrees F.
4. Humidity levels are not boosted by any mechanical means. I just use a warm shower about 2 times a week as well as daily mistings 2-3 mistings per day about 2-4 min long.
5. I use Live plants only. Shefflera, crotus, ficus, pothos. These may produce a smalll bit of humidity, if they do I wouldnt know. I don't have a Hydrometer in the cages. (I was under the impression that Veiled chams didn't need a constant hight humidity.)
6. The cage is up Plenty high. she can stay 18'' higher than my head I'm 6'4'' tall. Not a high traffic area. The only person who lives here is my elderly father. He doesnt really walk. So as for traffic? nearly none. just me. no vents near the cage.
7. Veiled Female 4-5 months old. in my care 2 weeks or so.
8. I only handle her when i need to. not every day. just for a trip to the shower or to move plants.
9. Feed her gutloaded 1/4'' crickets (fresh greens, carrots, fluker's gutload cricket food from petco) I feed everyday. She slowed her eating from 10-12 crickets to only about 2-3 when she turned brown.
10. I very lightly dust ALL the crickets with Repti Calcium with D3 by ZooMed.
11. I use Mister bottle from home depot 2-3 times a day showers 2 times a week also have a dripper going inside the cage ALL the time.
12. She usually drinks in the shower a bit and have seen her licking the leaves now a couple times. She is WELL hydrated very bright white Urates no sunken eyes.
13. She should have been wormed by the breeder, (not sure though) poos are a bit moist but solid and appear normal.
14. The problem is that she used to be green all the time and now she has been brown for about 3 days. Her appetite diminished with her bright color. also has seemed slightly lethargic.
15. I noticed last night and this morning all her skin is shedding off. The outer layer is white and flaking off in large pieces all over her body. AS OF TODAYS RECENT DEVELOPMENT, SHE'S REGAINED SOME OF HER GREEN IN THE CENTRAL PART OF HER BODY!!!! I will offer her a couple crickets in a while and see how her appetite is doing. Should I wait till she has shed fully???
Could all of this just be a combination of her shedding and being placed in a new enclosure recently???
anyways, she appears to be doin better with some fresh skin!
What types of symptoms do your chameleons experience durring the shed???
Thank You, any other info greatly appreciated.
