Swyft has been falling asleep on his new tree which is SO CUTE and SUCH A PAIN. I end up startling him a bit trying to get him moved back to the cage. So today I decided I would put him to bed early, at 8 p.m which is an hour earlier than yesterday. He was STILL asleep! Not just resting but actually asleep and confused/startled when I woke him.
I will try 7 p.m tomorrow. I love that he is enjoying his plant, and I hate to put him away while he's still awake and having fun so maybe I'll just watch for him to start slowing down on the tree and settling in. Soon when I'm back to work at my regular job I'll be waking him earlier because I'll leave earlier but I'll at least be home an hour earlier to let him have more playtime before he thinks it is bedtime.
I was so proud of him, he figured out the curtain rod bridge the VERY first time he saw it! I took a wide brass curtain rod, cylinder shaped, and put strips of grey duct tape along the top of it as duct tape has those ridges on the flat/smooth side of it. It gave him the grip he needed apparently because he skirted right across the length of it without faltering at all. I had used duct tape on both ends to secure it to a high shelf above his cage (he now knows how to climb out of his cage, onto the shelf) and then he watched me put up the rod, no joke he ran RIGHT up to it, crossed it to his tree. I was so happy! What a smart chameleon! I secured it with duct tape to the tote lid on the other side of the room too so it cannot wobble or turn. (plant sits on large tote lid for drainage)
