Hello Chameleon world!
My name is Brianna I'm 26 years old and I am the owner of Pretty Panther Chams. Blue is my Ambilobe Panther male who is pushing 3 years old in the next few months. Blue was adopted by me from a 2nd owner, he was purchase from "Sceameleons". He didn't have the best life prior to my care. His past owner only had him on crickets that weren't gut fed. Like, "um what?"
No other options! His owner also got bored of him; wasn't misting him like he needed to be, didn't get any natural sunlight and NO supplements or vitamins. His area was shared with a few loud rowdy dogs, a screaming 2 year old child, and not the proper lighting. Needless to say, the environment was not fit for a Panther Chameleon. I had to take him.
I drove an hour away to pick him up, when I got there I was so surprised as to Blue just wanted attention and out of that environment. I had his cage already all set up, just waiting for him. He is a very calm, sweet boy who just loves his sun and HORNWORMS! My goodness...
Prior to getting Blue I had already purchased an assortment of feeders (hornworms, silkworms, waxworms, dubia's, mealworms, etc.) he had an option since the owner said he had a strict diet of JUST crickets.
HORNWORMS are his favorite. I have videos posted on my instagram @prettypantherchams
When I fed him his first hornworm he started head bobbing with me. He was very happy.
I tried feeding him a dubia roaches and well... dubia's are not his favorite. I think he gets scared and isn't used to them.. LOL
I had purchased a minimum limit of 100 dubia's.
AND HE DOESNT WANT ANY OF THEM! Knowing I wanted him to have an assortment of insects to eat for his health, the next day I tried superworms, and silkworms. He will eat anything BUT dubia's... man oh man, I got a child as a chameleon. LOL
Fast forward to today and Blue is doing excellent. Which brings me up to where I am now.
In the mean time I had built another cage, purposely for him... but he wanted nothing to do with it. What a spoiled boy... SOO that means I had an empty cage!! I had a wild thought, decided after much research and care for chameleons... that I wanted to get a female and see if my project was do-able. I am very familiar with breeding projects as i've done some in the past with geckos and was raised with chameleons, snakes, etc. so I've seen how the process works. None-the-less, I still am researching to this day on tips and tricks to make my processes easier.
I decided it was time to get a female ambilobe panther for Blue. During my search, I found one and really liked her colors... she's was 8 months old had a little ways to go before any breeding would occur. TKCHAMELEONS- is the breeder I got her from and they have been helpful ever since. Their knowledge and love shows through each one of there Chameleons and they have LOTS!
I named her Little Foot from "Land Before Time" I thought it fit her perfectly because she has a beautiful purple hue to her.
Little Foot settled in really nicely. She is very timid, shy, and reserved. It will take sometime for her to come around and bond with me. That being said SINCE she IS only 8 months old, she has about 4-5 months before any contact with Blue happens. Little Foot needs to get strong with her daily calcium and vitamins.
AND she has to be the one that says it's ok for BLUE to enter her world...
POOR BLUEE
He really wants to hang out with her.
Blue got a glimpse of her while she was getting settled and he's been head bobbing since. This is his first female he has ever got to see so he is just trying to find a way to hang out with her and escape his cage.
Hopefully in the next year, we will have an in love Chameleon couple who's planning to have BABIES!
