Madagascar, the third largest Island on earth. Home to some of the most intriguing wildlife, 75 percent of which calls only this island home. A land so spectacular it attracted the likes of Charles Darwin. A land rich with diversity and full of monsters. Monsters and dragons. Through myths and legends, dragons ruled the skies the world over. In every culture they were the embodiment of terror and beauty. Here in Madagascar, though this dragon does not fly, it does indeed embody terror and beauty. Both a blessing and a curse to the local people, it is revered as a demon that should be respected. The Dragon I speak of is the Chameleon, Furcifer Pardalis or the Panther Chameleon to be exact. Native to and found only on this island, the panther chameleon has evolved seperate to its mainland cousins. Beautiful color arrays show off the diversity of this arboreal lizard, split between locales that span the entire island itself.

Please join me as we follow the story and the life of one of these tree Dragons. A life that starts in the jungle but is destined for new lands and greater journeys. Hopefully a life that will make you love these chameleons and maybe even inspire you to protect them. 5/6/2019
