i know veileds eat some vegetation. what can i give my little guy? is kale and lettuce ok? i havent tried it yet because i rather be safe then sorry :)

veileds can be offered a multitude of fresh fruits and veggies as treats! they have been know to enjoy romaine lettuce, kale, cilantro, spinach, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, apples, collard greens, carrot shreads, mustard greens, pears, and turnip greens. for the leafy greens you rinse the leafs well and can attach them to the inside of the cage so that your cham can munch as he pleases. for the hard fruits like apples and pears you need to cut them small so that he can chew them up well. keep in mind he may not recognize these items as food at first because they dont move so if he is willing to hand feed you could take for instance a blueberrie and roll it around in your palm to intince him to try it :)

these are foods are pretty much for treats only as he should be getting his nutrition from his feeders being properly gutloaded! :D

let us know how it goes! i would try one or two things over a course of a week or two and see what he likes.

I've been staying away from the same things that are a "NO" for my bearded dragons:
avocado, mushrooms, romaine, iceberg, leaf lettuces as their nutritional value is none

I have been told to wait until they are a little older to introduce vegetables. 9 mo. Old or so.
I have two veileds that are quite young (4-5 mo) and am just feeding them gutloaded crickets for now.

I believe that Veileds have an amazing sense of smell when it comes to veggies. As soon as i put sliced up bell pepper in my veileds cage, he would coming running over to it. Same thing with blueberries. In my case, it wasn't necessary to entice them to eat it with movement. I believe they can smell it.

fruits

I would like My baby veil to also eat fruits and things ! Do I place them on the cage floor in a container !!
Not sure how to put bananas or fruits in with him !! He is only a baby still but growing like a weed !!

you can attach leafy greens to the side of the enclosure to allow your cham to munch on it. you can offer slices of fruit to them in your hand or in a feeding cup :) i would put the feeding cup in some branches or attach it to the side of the cage, not put it on the floor because they generally dont go down to the floor of the cage! keep in mind that fruits and veggies are pretty much just treats as your cham should be getting its nutrition from properly gutloaded feeders!

this is an awesome thread i was just wondering what would be good for my veiled.
i gave my veiled some mango yesterday and she went crazy for it!
Also wondering if anyone knows if citrus fruits are ok for them, i have these mini seedless mandarins and i didn't want to give any to her untill i knew it was ok.
