Zen Enclosure For Panther Chameleon Help.

Hello, All. To start off I have a previous post from a few months ago answering all of the standard questions on the form. I’ve recently bought this 4x2x4 zen enclosure because feeding, drainage, and humidity have been a nuisance in the screen cage. I am wondering on some relatively cheap tips to decorate and set up this zen enclosure (how to setup plants, which plants are safe and would fill a large space, is spray foam a good idea, etc.) I know that most use a screen cage, but I live in a basement in Ky so I thought it might be easier to control it with the zen, thinking I can just put a few fans on top and that will solve the airflow issue many have with glass/pvc. Will I need to waterproof the cage? Am I better off just returning it before the 30 days and staying with the screen or looking into a dragon strand? I am honestly kind of lost, Any tips at all to this from experienced cham owners will be greatly appreciated from me and Cosmo. Thanks to you all.

You living in a Basement I think your main concern are airflow and lighting for your enclosure. When you have addressed those issues to make certain there is enough UV Light and Airflow for your chameleon I would look into live plants and branches for your Zen Enclosure. The Chameleon Forums has a great non toxic plant list floating around the site somewhere that you should review.

Here is a plant list link.

My biggest concern with that cage is air flow, I don't see any screened areas near the bottom for chimney effect airflow. You will need to replace a small section near the bottom with screen for air flow or install a computer fan or you will always be dealing with respiratory infections. The Enclosures and supplies section has a thread the-third-official-enclosure-picture-thread that you can browse for ideas.
