my boyfriend has an old 24 inch tube light hood in his basement, and i havent seen it yet, but would it be possible to fit an 18 inch light in it? id rather get that one for free than go out and get another if possible.

if the hood itself is 24 inches then the bulb holder could be at 18 inches.. if it holds a 24 inch bulb though youll need a 24 in bulb.. if you have an 18 inch bulb already and no fixture, id just pick one up at walmart (they are like 7 dollars)

The ballast in that fixture will only support a 24" bulb. you can switch out the ballast if it's a nice fixture. Lowes has ballasts cheap.
