When I opened the forum today, each of the recent threads on the home page had "Go to first new post" before the thread. Bouncing between forums and home page, it eventually disappeared and was normal, but the "normal" second page was more current than the first.

Probably user error, but what's up??

You computer was loading the "go to first new post" icons. Before it loads the actual icon, it loads the text that describes it. If your internet is slow, you will see text for pictures until the picture finishes loading.
