Why Do they do it...

Why do chameleons chew their food faster when getting misted?

I've noticed whenever one my chameleons is holding their food in their mouth, and when they're getting wet, they begin chomping their prey really fast.

Almost as if they just realized they're late for work!:p

HMMMM.
My educated guess would be that if they chewed their crickets at the normal speed while being misted, then they would naturally intake more water as well. Maybe they don't need that much water, so they chew it faster and get it down quicker so they don't intake as much water.
