What is better? A planted cage or a non planted cage??

For a planted cage, I want it to be small, but a little bit bigger than what is required (currently he is 7-9 months with a 16"x16"x30") I live an apartment so it needs to be reasonably sized. Are there any plants or shrubs he could climb (or a mini tree) but it isn't to big?

Planted for sure IMO. I know pothos and schefflera are safe and pretty indestructible. Many more on the safe plant lists though.

If your place can handle it a 18x18x36 would be better for a subadult panther, larger Jackson's or Veiled. 24x24x48 would be best. Plants make it easier to maintain humidity. If you don't have a green thumb you can mix in some plastic plants to provide adequate cover.
