Which Cham should i get?

Hey I was thinking, What cham should I decide on getting? Im getting close on the money and well should I get a Veiled, Jackson, or Outstalets Cham?

For Veiled Chams, they are common and usually have vibrant colors. But easier to take care of than other species of cham's. The one problem I have is that some are aggressive although some are more docile.

Jackson's, I've been fascinated by them since I was a toddler, looking at reptile books you know, I love those 3 horns they have, just too cool. And they like to Jump alot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40U6q62nZJs&feature=channel_page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7egDy5feHk&feature=related:):):) But Idk if they are docile or aggressive, I mean yes I know they get stressed but I dont want something biting me for when I clean the cage :p

Outstalets, I heard they are pretty docile and are the longest Chams I think, but they dont get that pretty looking you know? :( But i dont know if they are hard to take care of. Although people dont have these as much as the above two :)

Anyways I was thinking about jacksons but this is why Im asking you people.

Thanks - Tyler

It is hard to tell someone what kind of cham they should get. Different species require different care. Find out what the requirements are for each species - look a pictures - what kind of room (space) do you have for a cage? I have never had a veiled or jackson, but I have a male and female oustalet. They may not be as colorful as some other chams, but I love their personalities. They do require large cages though, due to their large size, so take that into consideration. I bought my pair for about $100.00 from chameleon company and recieved beautiful, healthy chameleon. Good Luck!

I have two friendly and very colorful veileds and love them to pieces. They are fascinating animals and there's some for sell here on the forums under the Classified section. Good luck to you in what ever you get and do tons of reshearch BEFORE you buy. Jann

i have a veiled and a nosy be... happy with both, if i were you, i would definitley get a panther!

Definately do lots of research on each one you're considering. Make sure everything's set up and ready to go before you get it. Believe me, after you get the first one, the addiction will kick in and other chameleons will follow.

And I wouldn't say oustalets aren't very pretty...

How can you not love a face like that ;)

jackson's are not generally considered a good starter cham, when you say "close on the money", are you refering to just the purchase price of the cham ? please be aware that the purchase price is only a small part of the overall cost of keeping chams, dave johnstone ,one of the authors of chameleon news , is a noted breeder of jackson's and has written an excellent article entitled "the cost of keeping chameleons", although as a keeper of jackson's myself, i feel his costs are too conservative. http://www.chameleonnews.com/?page=article&id=18

I say go for the Jackson! You admired them since you were a child.. Give yourself a chance because you did appreciated all the pictures of the Jackson. Live your childhood dreams... go for the Jackson! Experience that feeling of having the Jackson you always wanted...

Lol thanks and yes I'm aware of the cage, equipment, feeders, etc cost. I'm not that stupid :/ and Yea i'm doing lot's of research on both... I'm pretty responsible, if I wasnt, why would I think of getting one. Ive had a Cockatiel which is not the easiest to take care of but when I moved to CO i had to sell him :( but anyways yea, I was just wondering on it.

No one is implying you are stupid. You'd be amazed at the number of people who but reptiles and don't have a clue how to care for them.
Do research go to pet stores (not to buy) see what the chameleon looks like.
When you zero in on a particular species do alot of research.
Cockatiels aren't anything like reptiles so no comparison.

Buy whats make you happy.

If you like Jacksons, do your homework, save your money, and then buy one.

Chameleons are not your average reptile, they take dedication, and a good amount of effort to keep them healthy and happy. When your confident, and ready, make your purchase.

We all were in your shoes at one point.... good luck pa

Well, it is always advised to the begginers that the veiled ones are easy to care of. And by the time you are able to keep veiled ones, you can try another species.
But if you read a lot about the cham you are going to buy and if you discuss every single item you are going to buy him/her with someone who breeds them, it should be OK, too...
