When to replace a Reptisun?

Is it mandatory to replace them every 6 months or can they last longer? I know its best to replace them at 6 months but do they completely stop working at that time? or can i go a little longer and then replace it.

It is recommended to change them out at the 6 month mark. Most people do not have a UV meter to test the UV output, so it's safer to change the bulb. ReptiSun's usually continue to produce good amounts of UV past the 6 months, but to determine if the uv output is beneficial, a uv meter should be used. Don't just assume.

the 6 month mark is the safe mark basically,
but reptisuns have been known to last for 9 months in some cases.
But as heather has said unless you have a UV meter you cant know for sure :/
Thus every one says change it at 6 months
