When is a good time to stop cup feeding?

I have a 6 month old Jackson's chameleon, and I am worried he is too small for his cage so he wont find the tiny crickets (which love to hide). I am going to try cup-feeding and hand feeding (silkworms) but I am curious as to when to stop cup feeding and let the crickets loose. Any ideas?

I still cup feed. I do it because I want to be able to monitor what he is eating, to make sure I don't have to many crickets loose in the cage, and because he is a domestic animal at this point. I treat him like my dogs, I wouldn't take their food and throw it in the yard. A few escape so he still gets to hunt a little. Plus he gets non cup food like flies that keep the natural spirit alive.

There is no reason at all to stop cup feeding. If you feel you are denying him "hunt time" you can always toss a couple into the cage on their own to give him a diversion.
