I have a baby veiled chameleon thats between 2 to 3 months old. Since yesterday i've noticed that he's been keeping his right eye shut most of the time. I haven't noticed any discoloration and he seems to be eating normally. I've been watching him and he still opens his eye every once in a while but only about 1/2 or 3/4 of the way and then closes it within 5 seconds or so. His eye looks normal from what i can see, he's just been keeping it closed. Maybe he just got poked or scratched it somehow? Please help.

Has your little one shed lately?
Sometimes a tiny piece will get stuck under the eyelid.
In ant event, giving him a good long warm shower will let him clean it out.
Not misting, but rain drop like drops of warm water on over him for a good
10 minutes or so.
You may see him inflate his eye with the water and roll the eyeball around.
This is how they clean their eyes.
If that fails. Go to LLL Reptiles and buy some reptile eye drops.
Act quickly before the irratation becomes infected.
Then the real problems begin!!!

Feeding - Feeding him crickets, which are fed flukers orange cube complete cricket diet and dusted with calcium and vitamin supplements 2 times a week. Fed 3 times a day, mooring afternoon and night, about 8 to 10 crickets total.
Supplements - dusted with Repashy superfoods Chameleon Calcium plus twice a week.
Watering - Use bottle spring water in a dripper system and mist the cage 2 to 3 times a day. Have noticed him drinking.
Fecal Description - 1 brown and 1 white small cigar shaped. Never tested for parasites as far as i know.
History - He did shed about a week and a half ago for the first time since i've had him.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - 18x18x20 screened enclosure with an acrylic front door.
Lighting - Zilla 13w uvb bulb and 75w basking light in a zoo-med combo deep dome lamp fixture.
Temperature - cage floor is around 75, basking spot about 85. Lowest overnight temp is right around 73, usually around 76.
Humidity - I mist the cage well 3 times a day.
Plants - All plants are artificial.
Placement - Cage in kept in a low traffic room without fans or vents on any kind. sits at 2 to 4 feet off the floor in a room with 8 foot ceilings.
Location - Located in Milwaukee, WI

Thanks for filling out the questionnaire. Since there has been time between the shed before him closing his eye most likely not shed. Could still be something in there so, try giving him showers first. Put a plant in the shower and run warm water. Face the shower head so it hits the wall and bounces on the plant. Then put him on the plant. I would let him shower at least 10 minutes. If he tolerates it longer. Hopefully that works. You can also try rinsing the eye with some plain normal saline. If you don't see improvement it will be time for a vet visit. You can print out you questionnaire to take with you for the vet.
