What wood for cage? Is good

Thinking about building rather large cage wondering what wood would be best. Thanks for the suggestions

Indoor. I used the PVC and the nylon for my outside ones in the summer. I live in New England so they don't go out much

I used red oak for mine. It was a bit pricey, but I liked the wood grain.

And how do I know what is non-toxic to them? Thanks

I used a stain and a low VOC varathane. Lots of coats to make sure it was sealed.
