I have had 2 chameleons now for about 8-9 month, which are houses seperatly. I was wondering if someone (with experience of breeding) could give me a few tips on how to start this process as basically this is the first time ive owend veild chams and dont exactly know what todo. Any help would be great as i would really like to give this breeding ago.

I recommend waiting until your female veiled reach 1 year old.

Agreed. And then I would wait until I had quite a bit more experience under my belt before I considered breeding. And quite a bit of extra cash, since you're likely to be out of pocket quite a bit.

Then do a search of this forum and I think you will find many posts on this subject. I have found so much info on this forum - it's great!

thanx for the info. i was hoping that someone would offer some advice about how to set the right scene i.e temp wish, light times, his or her viv, how long to leave them together for, when's she ready what colours, how long to leave them after they bred?

A few months will fly by and they will be ready to breed. It is really pretty easy-she will be receptive and show blue spots all over-if you hold her outside the males cage she should be calm and not gape or hiss or turn dark. You then put the female in the males cage-as long as there is no fighting you can leave them together for a few days for multiple copulations, and remove her at first sign of being gravid (dark colors) or if any fighting, dominating occurs. Then the wait-my last clutch hatched days before the 9 month mark. Have your money saved!!! My last clutch was 69 very hungry babies-all have survived to 4 months except one and that has costed me $200+ a month at least to feed!

I tend to put my male into my females cage, because she doesnt like to be handled and he doesnt mind. Makes it much easier to remove him than it would be to move her.

I am an advocate of, "If it works, it works." That would be easier for me too since my male is easily handled, but would stress my female out since she is so territorial.
