]Hello, my panther was sold to me as a male- as he is so pale coloured and not much of a discernable bump by tail I wondered if it is a male or not, photos attached, any help identifying sex would be appreciated- also, what age should coloration be showing? He is also supposed to be about 6 months old? he seems very small for that age to me :( image.jpg many thanks for any help x It won't let me load more than one picture, sorry :(. Hope someone can help me with this.

That baby is not 6 months old. It doesn't even look 3 to me. Male colors can appear as young as 2 months or as late as 9 months, but 5-6 is more normal. To sex it, you need to post some photos with the tail strait out looking at the animal from the side. We need to see if it has a small buldge or not on the tail.

Thanks for replying and the info

Thanks for replying to my questions, glad it's a male :)
Is he old enough at three months the age you thought he might be) ( ive had him for 3 weeks now) although i was told he was 6 months-to be getting calcium and vitamins on his hatchling locust that he is eating? He is pooing and eating and drinking fine- he has white along with his poo and drinks from the leaves when I mist him, he is also really happy to come to me and crawl about on me. Why would a breeder lie about his age to me? Do you think they just wanted the money? I heard that two other babies that were homed at the same time didn't survive- was that because they were to young do you think? Any thoughts/ help would be appreciated- is there anything else I should be doing for him being so young? He is in small enclosure with reptiglo 5 fluorescent light- uva and uvb ,60 watt basking bulb and ceramic heater- all blocked off so he. Cannot climb or get to them. His enclosure is at about 85 -90 heat wise, And humidity at about 70. He can go lower to cool off he he wants to. Any info would be appreciated, I'm new to panthers- my last chameleon was a Yemen and he lived to be 10 yrs old.

Well, sometimes they are small if they are not fed enough or are a runt, but ai really dont think that is the case here and he is just younger than you were told. Around 3 months id when most are sold because they are past the really fragile stage and are significantly more likely to thrive in a new home.

Keep the basking spot at 85 as a max since he is younger. He should definitely be getting plain calcium without D3 every feeding. Use the multivitamin twice a month, and the number of times you should use a calcium with D3 depends on the brand/how much D3 is in it. Let us know which brand and how much D3 is in it (it usually says on the jar something like 123,456 iu per kg.) And just make sure he gets enough to eat. Feed him 1-2 times a day. Give him as many crickets/feeders as he will eat in 5-10 minutes each time.
