What is he doing??

The other day my Yemen was acting very strange with me. He started by hissing and flaring up, (which is normal). But then he started nibbling my finger very gently, and kept touching my finger with his tongue. He went the most beautiful colours while doing this. Usually he just flares up and tells me to go away, and even lunges for my hand. Does anyone have any ideas?
