I just got done adding all the decor to my new Panther Cam's cage. He comes in the morning!! I can not wait!!!

I threw out all the decor since my last cham had the eye infection and I didn't want to risk any cross contamination and went all new.

nice! did you just line the bird cage with screen? is it the harder wire screen or the plastic? i might take that idea

I did. I used jewelry wire to sew down each corner and to the edges. It is the wire screen. If I did it again I would use either the plastic or find some mesh. I was looking for mesh to begin with but couldn't find it. All of the edges are folded over a few times so the sharp parts are covered but I poked myself A LOT when doing it. I really like how it turned out. It is pretty and it has it's own stand with a shelf. I got it on sale at a pet shop for like $120. At the bottom there is a flap that goes on the outside of the pan when I slide it in and out. The pan does make it easy to clean and catch all the misting water. I used one solid piece around the whole inside and just have the one seam down one side but still fixed the other three corners with the wire. Then I cut a piece for the top and the door. the lights sit right in the top on the screen. It had a dome top that opens so they fit right inside. The dome is also removable if I ever want to try and make it a bit taller. And whats great about it is that the branches wedge really well into place with the cage bars, they are nice and solid. I just cut them to fit tightly. There are a few gaps in one top corner and at the corners of the pan but I cup feed so I don't have any escapees.

that sounds great! I have a XL reptibreeze for my blue bar ambilobe but i just picked up a Nosy Be panther today and he could use a cage upgrade. thanks for the idea

What size is it? Looks big!

I use a giant parrot cage for my panther, too, but I chose not to put screening around it as he mostly cupfeeds, and I let the silkworms and hormworms loose for him to hunt. I quite like the bird-cage-for-chams thing, they use the horizontal bars as additional climbing surface without having to worry about pulling his nails out!

Be aware that the pan will NOT hold water for long! It will start to leak very quickly as these metals are not made for water and rust quickly. I use a shallow plastic sweaterbox as a liner, which makes it watertight and easy to clean :) Cost me about $10 at Walmart

It's not huge but it's big. It's around the 32x24x24 size. Not sure the exact size but it's made for a small parrot like a Quaker or Senegal. I don't have to worry about the pan. It's actually plastic. Completely water tight. The last parrot cage I had when I did have a Quaker parrot had the metal pan you're talking about so I know what you mean.

Without a screen, do you have a harder time keeping the humidity up? That's why I chose to line it with screen because I thought it would at least help a bit with that. I cup feed too but if any get out I don't have to worry much.

I have quite a few tropical reptiles that require high humidity (80%+) and they are all in the same bedroom. The other species' being so high in humidity means the room is generally at 60-70% humidity on it's own without any help from me. He gets sprayed three times a day, has his dripper going for 8 hours a day, and gets a shower every 7-10 days, more often if he's shedding.

I also have a cat who believes her calling in life is hunting escaped bugs, so I don't really have to worry about that. I haven't had an infestation yet!
