What do you guys do with your gauges?

Do you keep them inside your enclosures? What if they get wet?

I have cheap digital ones in each cage, and a more expensive one that I move around in the room as a verification. I dont care if the cheap ones get wet, since so far such hasnt happened often (i use drippers and hand mist, so I direct where the water goes and does not go) and when the guages do get wet no discernable damage results - they still work. Besides its only $30 to get a new one

I know it doesn't really matter if the probes get wet but i'm concerned about the LCD display part etc.

Sunken eyes, yellow urates and boney tails indicate low internal hydration. Flat coloured, wrinkled skin and poor sheds can be indicative of poor humidity. Although, nutrional deficienciers can also explain poor sheds.....

I see. Well I do have thermometers and I do spot checks but I was thinking is this really enough? I was quite worried.

oh, yes well I knew these things - but I thought you meant you had a magic way of looking at their skin to know if the humidty in the room and/or in them was low - way BEFORE all these rather serious signs appeared. ;)

tryme I think if you have a couple themometres and humidity guages, checked regularily, in various locations, you're fine. I would just say dont rely on only one, in case it craps out. If you have two reading roughly the same, you can be roughly assured that they're accurate :)

i got one of those small digital therms, with the cord and "probe" i assume you would call it. i just check the temps about once a month or so, to make sure the bulbs placement hasnt slipped. i also do it when replacing bulbs. but i never leave it in there, id be afraid the cham would wanna eat it
